CONGRATULATIONS to our Fire Poster Contest Winners, Luke R. and Clara E.

Students have been busy learning new skills and revisiting some skills they have learned in the past. Some of the skills we are working on:

Kindergarten/1st/2nd Grades (Media Literacy):

Students have been learning about healthy habits when using technology.

Kindergarten students:

The students learned a technique called "Pause, Breathe, Finish-Up" as a way to calmly finish using technology. We discussed all the healthy advantages of limiting the time they spend on devices.

1st Grade:

We discussed balancing time with media and how it is healthy and important to limit time on devices. We talked about how important it is to include exercise and communication with family and friends.

2nd Grade:

We discussed good digital citizenship and how to stay safe and responsible when online.

3rd/4th/5th:

Students have been practicing typing skills.

Middle School:

Students are learning how to use an index.

Books: I am working diligently on getting new books out on the shelves. The children are very excited about the new books and have begun checking them out this week. I am continuing to order and process books to add to our collection. I just love watching the excitement of the students as they find the perfect book!

Mark your calendar for Tuesday, December 16th at 6:30 PM. The students in grade 1-5 should wear their Christmas best and be at the church by 6:15 PM. If there is a schedule conflict or your child gets sick, please send me a quick email stating your child's full name and grade so I can mark them excused.

The winners of the classroom spelling bee will participate in the school-wide spelling bee on Dec. 10th at 2:30 PM in the gym. All students are invited to this event to cheer on their classmates.

Dear Parents and Students,

It’s that time of the year again. We are having an ornament decorating contest in the cafeteria. I would like for the students to decorate a ball ornament and to display it by our Christmas tree in the cafeteria. We want you to be creative, make it colorful and enjoy making it with your family. If you have a ball ornament that you would like to enter, that is fine, but I have extra ball ornaments available in the cafeteria to use. We will be judging who has the most creative ornament. Please return the decorated ornament by DECEMBER 12TH. Happy decorating and good luck!

We need help in our cafeteria on a daily basis. Great way to earn Parent Partnership hours. Kitchen Help will assist the cafeteria with serving food. Cafe Monitor will assist students with opening items and cleaning tables.

You must be VIRTUS compliant. Parent hours need to be logged in to Sycamore for approval!

There will also be fun opportunities for the students of St. Cecilia to participate on the court before and during the games! Our next PTO meeting will be on Tuesday, January 13th, at 6:30 PM in the Undercroft.

Save the date for our annual Stagette, Saturday, March 14 at 6:30 PM at Receptions in Erlanger. This year's theme is "Prom Through the Decades". We are looking for items to raffle off! Please email the PTO, pto@stindependence.org, if you know someone who can donate to our raffles or who would like to help with planning the event!

We are in need for volunteers to work the Basketball concession stand during the basketball season.
