Holiday Assistance
If you are in need of holiday assistance in December (clothing, shoes, toys, presents) please reach out to our school counselor, Leslie Twehues, directly ASAP (Ltwehues@nwlsd.org). Please keep in mind that there are limits to what local organizations can do. Each year we find that the growing need is more than the generous resources provided, so we expect that these program capacities will be reached.
Building Information
- Student arrival is daily between 8:30am and 8:50am. MHE staff supervision is not available before 8:30am. Students that arrive after 8:50am will be marked tardy.
- Y's Kids morning and after school care is available through Clippard YMCA (513-923-4466)
- Please refrain from dropping your student off in the main parking lot between 8:30am - 8:50am. This lot is for bus drop off only.
- If you plan on having your child eat school breakfast, please try to have them here closer to 8:30am. All students that arrive at school after 9am will be asked to get their breakfast from the cafeteria and report to their class to eat. TEACHING WILL BEGIN AT 9AM!
- Please refrain from picking your student up in the main office between 3:25-3:45. Parent pick up is at the back gate using your car tag. The front lot is for bus loading only.
- If you are in need of a car tag, please see Mr. Smith in the main office. If you do not have a car tag, you must have a photo ID AND be listed in the student's file as authorized to pick up.
- Breakfast and Lunch are both FREE this year! If however, you would like to have your child(ren)’s school instructional fees waived, you must submit an Educational Benefits or Household Income survey to determine fee waiver eligibility. You may complete the survey through the Infinite Campus parent portal.
- Additional items can be purchased using funds that have been added to student accounts. (Snack/chip bags and ice cream are $1.25, cookies are $.90 or $.70, and fruit-roll-ups are $.75) CASH IS NOT ACCEPTED IN THE CAFETERIA.
- Please do not send your child in the morning with coffee drinks or breakfast items from fast food locations (McDonalds, Starbucks, Dunkin, etc.). Students do need to finish these things before coming into school and should not be bringing them to class or the cafeteria.
- Please do not drop fast food off to students in the middle of the day. In the event of this, your child will be asked to eat in the office instead of with their class in the cafeteria.

Empowering Parents & Transforming Families
Northwest Local School District (NWLSD) is proud to partner with Village Empowerment Community Services (VECS) for the sixth consecutive school year to offer an intensive, 12-week parenting program:
A Parent’s Guide to Changing Destructive Adolescent Behavior (CDAB).
CDAB is the only parent training program designed to address the most challenging adolescent behaviors, including chronic school truancy, running away from home, engaging in unhealthy risk-taking, and experimenting—or considering experimenting—with drugs and/or alcohol. The curriculum is best suited for parents and caregivers of students ages 11–18 who may be experiencing these concerns.
This evidence-based program uses the CDAB behavioral model to help parents and caregivers address critical issues and provides practical, step-by-step strategies for creating positive change. The curriculum is interactive and skill-building, with each week building on the last. Participants will engage in group discussions, practice new strategies, and develop a supportive network with other families. Skills learned in the program are designed to strengthen parents’ and caregivers’ ability to support their child’s social and emotional growth.
Program Highlights:
Free of charge to all parents and caregivers of pre-adolescents and adolescents within the NWLSD community
12-week commitment (attendance is mandatory; classes close after Week 2)
Dinner and childcare provided weekly
Families who participate will:
Learn effective ways to reduce family conflict
Increase student attendance
Improve student academic performance
Gain access to valuable community resources
