CLMS Family Update

February 27, 2026

CLMS FamilyUpdateFebruary 27, 2026

From CLMS Principal, Mr. Eric Pettit

Good Afternoon, CLMS Families,

I want to begin by congratulating our CLMS Cheerleaders on winning their first-ever cheer competition! This is an exciting milestone for our program, and we are proud of the dedication, teamwork, and school spirit these students demonstrated while representing CLMS.

As we continue through the second semester, I also want to remind families that our final round of Parent/Teacher Conferences will take place on Thursday, March 5th. Conference sign-up information can be found below, and we encourage families to take advantage of this opportunity to connect with teachers and discuss student progress.

Additionally, today is the final day to purchase yearbooks for the 2025–26 school year. This is the only opportunity to order a yearbook, as no additional copies will be available. Ordering details are included below for those who have not yet placed an order.

We are also looking forward to our 7th and 8th Grade Band and Choir Concert on March 3rd. These performances highlight the hard work and growth of our student musicians, and we hope families are able to join us for a great evening.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support of CLMS and the many ways you partner with us to support our students.

As always, Go Pirates!

On February 19th, our 8th grade students had the opportunity to attend JA Inspire, a hands-on career exploration experience that allowed them to interact with local businesses and career pathways. Students explored a wide range of careers, asked questions of professionals, and learned how their interests, strengths, and future coursework connect to real-world opportunities. On February 25th, our 7th grade students participated in a Virtual Healthcare Fair hosted by The Health Collaborative. This interactive experience introduced students to a variety of healthcare careers through virtual presentations and activities led by professionals in the field. Students learned about different roles within healthcare, required training and education, and how these careers directly impact communities. Both experiences provided meaningful exposure to future career pathways and helped students begin thinking about life beyond middle school in purposeful and engaging ways.

Help Name Our New Pirate Mascot! Help Name Our New Pirate Mascot!

Exciting news! At a recent CLHS Student Council meeting, students shared their enthusiasm about adding a Pirate mascot to our cheer team — and it’s officially happening! Thanks to the incredible generosity of the Cardington Athletic Boosters, the cost of the uniform has been covered.

Now comes the fun part… our Pirate needs a name!

We need your help to make it legendary. Please take a moment to complete the survey and submit a school-appropriate name for our newest Pirate. The top five names will move on to a community vote, where all of Cardington will help choose the final winner.

The big reveal will take place at the All-Community Pep Rally on March 19, 2026 — and you won’t want to miss it!

As we move closer to spring, I want to remind families of our upcoming state testing dates, which are listed below. All tests will be conducted in the morning. We ask that families do their best to avoid scheduling appointments, vacations, or other planned absences during these windows so students can test as scheduled and without added stress. If a student is absent on a testing day, they will be required to make up the assessment on the first day they return to school. Thank you for your support in helping our students be present and prepared during this important time.
