Respect | Responsibility | Relationships
April 20 - April 24
Hello Mustang Families!
This past week, 7th grade lunch turned into a creative and energetic competition as students designed their own version of soccer tennis. With no net in sight, backpacks became the court divider and a volunteer became a human scoreboard. Teams of three lined up to play, games were self-officiated with respect, and impressive juggling skills and foot-work were on full display. The result was a fun, competitive atmosphere that highlighted teamwork, sportsmanship, and student initiative.
Last Tuesday, the Mustang Symphonic Band represented Madison at Sea World, entertaining guests with a variety of compositions including selections from Disney films.
And in sixth grade Slime and Boom Chemistry Explore Lab, students celebrated creativity and resilience as they tested, and refined their rocket car designs. Many students showed perseverance after failed trials and used those moments to improve their designs — a huge win for growth mindset! Teams demonstrated the 3R's as they worked respectfully and responsibly in teams, supporting one another and practicing strong collaboration skills. Students were excited to celebrate successful launches together and cheer the creativity of their fellow students' designs.
And this week we begin state testing in math and English language arts for all students, science for 8th grade students, and Spanish for DLI (dual language immersion) students. Testing will take place over the next three weeks, and there will be opportunities for make-ups if students are absent. We encourage students to get a good night's sleep, eat a good breakfast, bring snacks, and do their best and show what they know!
Thanks for reading! See below for more information about school and community events and resources. Please reach out to us if you ever have questions, and let us know how we can best support your students.
Have a great week!
