Message from Mrs. Russell
December is Here and We Are Ready!
It's hard to believe we are reaching the end of 2025 but MPMS is ready to make the most of the last 15 days of school for this calendar year. December's Capturing Kids' Heart focus is on responsibility and students will be digging into what it means to be responsible at school, at home, with others and with themselves. Developmentally our students take on much greater responsibility in switching classes, managing their time and staying on top of the requirements of various classes and teachers. We take lots of time to teach and discuss our schoolwide expectations of Total Respect, Effort & Ownership, Awesome Attitude, and Mental & Physical Safety.
Thank you for partnering with us in your students education. We are still looking for more family participation in our mid year CKH survey. Please see below - it only takes a couple of minutes but provides us with critical feedback about our implementation of this important program.

CAN YOU SPARE 2 MINUTES?
At Mt. Pleasant Public Schools, all of our schools use the Capturing Kids’ Hearts (CKH) process to build strong relationships, create a positive school culture, and ensure every student feels connected, valued, and supported. Through CKH strategies—like Greetings, Good Things, Social Contracts, and Launches—we work to create classrooms and school communities where students thrive both academically and socially.
As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, we invite you to share your thoughts in the CKH Family Survey. Your feedback helps us understand how our CKH practices are experienced by families and how they impact students’ connections and sense of belonging.
We truly value your voice! Your input helps us celebrate what’s going well and identify ways to keep growing together as a district family. Take the survey here: CKH FAMILY SURVEY
Have additional thoughts or suggestions? Please share them here: MPPS Family Perception

Lock It Up
Theft often happens because something is left unlocked or unattended. Whether it’s your bike, locker, or electronics, always take a few seconds to secure your belongings. Don’t leave valuables out in the open where they can tempt someone to take them. Each year, 2.4 million bikes are reported stolen in the US. The number is even higher due to many not reporting thefts. If possible, keep your bike secure inside when at home, and if left outside, lock it up with a strong lock. “Kryptonite” is a trusted, highly rated brand offering strong locks at various prices.
A simple lock can prevent a big problem, and it sends a message that you’re looking out for your own safety. Protecting your things helps keep our school and community safer, too.
Stay safe!

TRAVELING STUDENT INFO
MPMS Accelerated Math Program and MPMS French Students Attendance on Days with an Irregular Schedule
For Elementary Students Attending MPMS
These students WILL NOT attend on most days that alter the daily schedule, including delay days, half days, and days where MPMS students start with first hour. One issue is that there may not be a bus available to transport them back to their elementary schools. Another issue on delay days is that they will be finished with their MPMS math class long before their elementary start time.
The only exception to this rule will be days where they will be taking their trimester exams. They will indeed attend on exam days, even with the change in schedule.
For MPMS Students Attending MPHS
These students WILL NOT attend on delay days, half days, and all other irregular days unless otherwise instructed by their MPHS Math/French teacher.
