A Message From Your Principal π¨π»βπ«
Hello Howard Family,
I hope you had a wonderful and restful Easter weekend. This time of year is a special opportunity to enjoy family, connect with friends, and reflect on the many blessings we share and a hope for our future.
As we enter the month of April, our students will be engaging in important preparation for the upcoming STAAR assessments, which begin next week. This week is especially critical as students revisit areas they may have found challenging throughout the year. We are confident that with focus and support, they will continue to grow and experience the success we know theyβre capable of. Please encourage them to remain focused on the prize.
One of our key goals this year has been student growth for every student, not simply passing the STAAR. While a test provides only a snapshot of a single day, we believe that meaningful growth, intellectual and personal, is the true measure of success. By the end of testing, we hope our students will clearly see their progress and feel proud of how far theyβve come.
To help students perform their best, rest and good nutrition are essential. Our district will be providing free breakfast for all students on STAAR testing days. Please also help ensure your child gets plenty of sleep the night before each test. Additionally, we ask that students not bring blankets on testing days or any day really, as these can become a distraction after testing is completed.
This week also marks the end of the 5th six weeks grading period. Yes, it's crazy but it's true. We are about to have our last six weeks of the year and finish up. Please be mindful of your student's grades and communicate with teachers of any concerns you may have as this is the last week for students to take care of grades.
With athletics season wrapping up, weβd also like to encourage everyone to come out and enjoy the upcoming performance by our theater students. They have been working hard and are excited to share an entertaining show with our community.
Have a wonderful week, and as always, Be Howard BRAVE!
Sincerely,
Michael Williams

This past week, the Howard Junior High Track Teams competed in the Metro Athletic Conference's Meet of Champions. To be there, an athlete/team had to place in the top 4 of their event in the South Zone Meet; therefore, to even be at this meet was an extreme honor.

Good evening everyone!
I received the information regarding our annual 7on7 tournament. You'll find everything you need to know from the link below. I'll add that I'm in search of possibly 1-2 more men to help coach our 8th grade team, and 1-2 more for our 7th grade team. I've already got two head coaches to run both of them, but they could use some additional eyes and hands to make it go smoother. So if you are available to be at the practices/tournament, and have coaching experience, please don't hesitate to reach out here on parent square and throw your hat in the ring, so to say.
I'll print copies of this flyer below and give to those players interested in trying-out this week. Please don't feel the need to print them yourself.
