WELCOME BACK SCHOLLS HEIGHTS COMMUNITY!
Hello Scholls Heights Families!
On behalf of the Scholls Heights Parent Teacher Organization (SHPTO), we are thrilled to welcome both our returning families and those who are brand new to our community to a fantastic new school year. We hope your summer was filled with rest, fun, and wonderful memories!
A new school year brings fresh energy, new friendships, and endless opportunities to connect. Our goal as the PTO is to enrich our students' school experience, support our incredible teachers and staff, and help build a strong, inclusive community for our families. We have an exciting lineup of activities and events planned for this year, and we can't wait to share them with you!
Here is a glimpse of what’s in store:
Unforgettable School Events: Get ready for family favorites like our spooky-fun Monster Mash, cozy Movie Night, and other school socials that bring us all together.
In-Classroom Volunteering: Be a part of the daily magic! There are opportunities abound to jump into the classroom for one of the three yearly Class Parties, help guide creative minds through Art Literacy, and assist with worker Wednesday helping all of our staff members, among other in-classroom opportunities.
Committee & Event Support: It takes a village to run these events smoothly! Whether you have an hour to spare or want to help lead a project, we have committee roles big and small to fit any schedule.
Annual Fundraisers: Our fundraising efforts directly support essential school programs, field trips, classroom supplies, and community events. From Dining for Dollars (D4$) to our annual Fun Run and spring auction, we look forward to working together to reach our goals!
Whether you are interested in volunteering regularly, attending events, or simply staying informed, your involvement—in whatever capacity works best for your family—makes a world of difference.
Please mark your calendars for our first SHPTO meeting on September 2, 2026, at 6:00 PM via Zoom to meet other parents, hear about upcoming plans, and learn how you can get involved. Be sure to follow our communications throughout the year so you don't miss a thing or the meeting link!
Thank you for your continued support, enthusiasm, and partnership. Let’s make this school year the best one yet for our Knights!
Warmly,
Stacey Andrews and Rachael Styer

Open PTO Activity Chair Positions
We are in HIGH NEED of volunteers to fill the following Activity Chair positions for the 2026–2027 school year. Our school events and fundraising efforts are only possible because of our wonderful community of volunteers and organizers - please join us! The PTO Board is here to support each position and can share guidance, resources, and a wealth of knowledge with anyone interested in serving as a Chair. No prior experience is needed.
Open Activity Chair Positions:
· 🏆Auction Activity Chair: Organize our annual online auction in February to help raise funds for the PTO and school.
· 📚Book Fair Co-Chairs: Support the Scholastic Book Fair twice a year, in October and April during school conferences, by helping with set-up, take-down, and supporting the fair and volunteers.
· 🪩Family Dance Chair: Lead a committee to plan Family Dance Night in January, including music, activities, decorations, and a fun theme.
Not sure if you have enough time or experience? Please reach out anyway! Many chair positions can be co-chaired or supported by a committee, and we are happy to talk through what each role involves.
If you are interested or have any questions, please contact Vice Presidents Dawn and Kiana at vicepresident@shpto.org.
Please keep an eye out for more volunteer opportunities throughout the school year in ParentSquare to join a committee and support our school in other ways. We will also have additional volunteer information at the upcoming Volunteer Kickoff on Friday, September 11. We hope to see you there!

🌍 Welcome Back to Passport Club!
Passport Club is an optional enrichment activity for grades 2–4 and a required activity for 5th grade. Through Passport Club, students memorize the world’s countries, key world capitals, and—just for 4th graders—Oregon geography.
Each month, students bring home a map with five study levels that build on one another. (Studying for level 2 means level 1 is included too; level 3 covers levels 1–3, and so on.)
Help your child choose a study level that’s right for them. Students tend to do best with a study buddy at home—a sibling, friend, grandparent, parent, or any willing grown-up to help quiz them!
Questions? Reach out to president@shpto.org. Sign-ups to help quiz students each month will be posted soon on ParentSquare—no experience or prior knowledge necessary!
Running Club is Back! Starts Friday September 4
Running Club is held most Fridays during fall and spring (weather permitting), see PTO calendar for dates. This is a fun, optional activity where kids (K-5th grades) run/walk around the school track at lunch recess. Students can head to the track after lunch to run as many laps as they’d like, and volunteers keep track of each child’s laps.
Some of the goals include running a 1⁄2 marathon or marathon over the course of the school year and grade levels also compete for the most laps run. Students receive small charms to add to a running club keychain for achieving each milestone!
This is the perfect chance to encourage exercise and enjoy time outdoors with our Scholls Heights students each week.
If you're interested in volunteering, please watch for volunteer opportunities in ParentSquare.
