May: A Super Busy Month
Wow! I guess that April showers (or snowstorms) really do bring May flowers. It seems like we were just getting ready for the winter holiday and now we are preparing for the summer. Time flies.
It will definitely be a busy month for everyone. Some of your children are involved in spring sports, theatre, or music. All of these activities are wonderful and add so much to our lives, yet they also keep us running around. We certainly have a busy calendar between now and the end of the year.
Some of the highlights coming up include our music concerts on the 14th and 21st, the Night at the Museum Learning Walk on the 19th, our theater class performance on the 15th and our 8th grade continuation on the morning of the 28th. This list doesn't include all of the smaller events and celebrations throughout the month. Please mark you calendars and support your child in making the most of the end of the year.
Sincerely,
Ms. Davis
Student Led Conferences May 4th and 11th.
On May 4th and 11th, all students will be celebrating their growth and achievement with parents/guardians and family members via Student Led Conferences. Your children have been collecting evidence all year and will have a great conference prepared. Please plan to attend and celebrate with your children. If for any reason you cannot attend our Student Led Conferences, we recommend that you send another family member like a grandparent, aunt, older sibling or close family friend.
In addition, Mrs. Speakman and myself will be available to support you and our child with any needs or decisions.
We are excited to help you celebrate your child's success and growth.
School Activities
Athletes, Musicians, Actors
Athletics will end on May 2nd with the PEG league track meet. It has been great watching our young athletes grow throughout the year.
Our musicians have been busy as well. The band competed in the Colorado West Festival on April 24th and will have a concert at the high school on May 14th. The Choir and Ukulele ensembles will have their final concert at GVMS on May 21st at 6:30. Then on May 26th all of our musicians will travel to several senior care centers in the area to perform and engage with the residents. We are so proud of these young folks.
On May 15th our theater class will perform their final show, "3rd Period, The Musical" at GVMS at 7:00 pm. This show includes musical performances and a very entertaining story line.
On May 19th, all students will be presenting their historical research at our annual Night at the Museum event. Students are researching an historical event, person or mystery. They will create a museum exhibit and present their learning. Come see the work of your child and the amazing historians at GVMS from 5-7 pm. Be sure to check out all three grade levels as they each have a different focus.
Clubs
Our clubs continue to thrive and create places of belonging and purpose at GVMS. We currently have several clubs and student organizations meeting during lunch. They all have a different focus and help make our school amazing. Thank you to the kids and sponsors who keep these going. If you are interested in joining any of the clubs, see the sponsor to inquire.
