Paradise Place ETNS Newsletter
3 November 2025
Dear parents, carers, staff and friends,
Open Morning - this Friday!
Welcome back to a new half-term! We hope you had a nice break. We are looking forward to a busy few weeks ahead.
As the children are more settled into their classes, we want to remind parents/carers that most children should be walking into school on their own in the mornings with their teacher. Children can show their teacher they are ready by standing in their line or area of the yard at 8.50 a.m. and walk into the building with their class. If you are late arriving to school, your child should go to their class themselves or with a school adult. After 8.50 a.m. children need to be settling into their classes, the day of teaching has started and parents/carers should avoid going into rooms. If you need to, please speak to the teacher in the yard or leave a message at the office.
We do want to create more opportunities for families to visit the children's classrooms more regularly in a way that gives equal access to everyone so we are inviting families to spend a few minutes in their child's class on the first Friday of each month for 'Open Morning'. We will start this week - Friday 7th November - from 8.50 a.m. until 9.15 a.m. Any family member who would like to come into the building and visit your child's class is welcome.
Parent-Teacher Meetings
We are planning our parent-teacher meetings for late November and wanted to get some feedback from you about your preferred timings for these meetings. This is not to book a meeting - just to give an idea of parent preferences for morning, afternoon or evening appointments. Please respond to the survey by Friday so we can plan the next steps.
Next Monday - Odd Sock Day for Anti-Bullying Week
Next week is Anti-Bullying Week and our Anti-Bullying Ambassadors are planning an 'Odd Sock Day' on Monday 10th November to launch the week and celebrate what is unique in each of us. Please support your child to wear odd socks (two different colours or patterns) to school on Monday.
Hallowe'en Events
Thank you to all of the families who created such beautiful pumpkins for our competition. As always, we were blown away by the high standard, the time and effort you put in and the creativity of your designs. They really were so impressive and they really added to the atmosphere of our disco!
Many thanks to our Parent Events Team, Paulina and Nadine, for supporting Kate with all the preparations and prizes.
Bohemians Match
It was wonderful to see a big group of children and parents/carers spending a sunny Sunday afternoon supporting Bohemian Football Club's Womens Team in the FAI Final in Tallaght Stadium. We were delighted to see so many families interested in this opportunity and everyone had a brilliant time. Huge thanks to Rosalia who coordinated all the tickets and the visit, and to Shauna and Aoife McC who accompanied the group on the day.
News from last week
2nd Class - Roots of Empathy
Alannah's 2nd Class are taking part in the Roots of Empathy Programme this year. Before the holidays, they got to meet their teacher, baby Nora for the first time. The programme supports the children's social and emotional skills by allowing them to see how a mum and baby interact over the course of the baby's first year of life. The programme is facilitated by Odhran, our School Completion Programme key worker.
2nd/3rd Class - Botanic Gardens
Filming for Science Week
Ali's Class also welcomed a film crew who filmed a special video for Science Week with the children - we'll share the video once we see it!
Attendance at school
As we start into a new half-term, it is important to get back into good routines and get to school on time each day. You can check your child's attendance on Aladdin at any time and we sent a letter before the break with your child's attendance to date. At this stage, any child who has missed more than 4 days at school is a concern for us and we will be checking in with these families.
Well done to Derek's 5th Class with 97% in the week before the holidays, Alannah's 2nd Class with 96% and Shauna's 6th Class with 95.5%. Keep up the good work!
