February 4-10, 2024
Good morning, Cannon families,
The general and STEM student transfer application window for the 2024-2025 school year will open on Monday, February 5, 2024, at 8 am. Online applications will be accepted through Friday, February 16, 2024, at 4 pm.
Transfer Window Dates
Window 1: February 5 - February 16 - STEM/General Transfers
Window 2: March 4 - March 22 - STEM/General Transfers
Window 3: June 3 - June 14 - STEM/General Transfers
Do I Need to Submit a Transfer Request?
All students (including employee students) must apply for a transfer if they desire to attend a campus other than their zoned campus and/or when they are moving from the following grades/campuses:
Pre-K to Kindergarten (Cannon Kindergarten Transfer Seats Available!)
Elementary school to middle school
Middle school to high school
Students who are already approved on a transfer and are not moving to the next transition level do NOT need to submit a transfer request. For more information and to complete an online application on or after Monday, February 5, click here.
IMPORTANT: Please know that incomplete applications (e.g. missing residency documents) will NOT be processed during this round of student transfers. It is very important that families have all the needed documents when submitting transfer applications.
Proud to be your principal,
Dr. Tina Garrett

Are you ready for our Cannon field day?
We will host our Cannon Field Day on Friday, April 26th this year. On Field day, we ask all of our Cubs to wear their grade level t-shirt color or a Cannon Spirit Shirt. We ask all visitors that day to also show their Cannon School Spirit! In addition to field day, every Friday is spirit day at Cannon as we celebrate our amazing school culture! Please help me give a huge shout out to one of our fourth grade parents for putting this NEW Cannon Spirit Store Together! Thank you, Maureen Collins!
The store will remain open until midnight of February 18th; please start shopping!

Book Fair Time at Cannon!
Can you believe it? It’s Book Fair time again at Cannon. The kids get so excited for the book fair. To make it a success, I need your help. Please sign up for a shift or two.
Do you want your scholars to buy something at the book fair but hate giving them cash? No problem! Buy a gift card through the Literati website. You don’t even have to print the code. Ms. Wagner is notified and provided the code when a student has a gift card and will call them to the library to pick out their books.
Books & Bundts
We are excited to share a new opportunity with you as we continue to encourage our students to become avid readers! Nothing Bundt Cakes is partnering with local schools to provide students an incentive for reading nightly! Through the Books and Bundts program, we want to continue to encourage and promote nightly reading for our scholars! Simply complete this FORM showing 400 minutes read each month for homework and take it to our local Nothing Bundt Cake in Southlake to redeem for a free Bundtlet! Printed copies are available in our foyer or you can contact Ms. Wagner at kristi.wagner@gcisd.net . Thank you for continuing to encourage your child to spend time reading every night!

GCISD Calls May Bond Election
At its January 22 school board meeting, the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD Board of Trustees voted to call a bond election that will be on the May 4 ballot. Registered voters residing within the GCISD boundaries will be asked to consider a $150 million bond referendum that would generate funding to address aging conditions, such as replacements for roofs, electrical, plumbing, lift stations, and heating and air conditioning equipment. The propositions also address safety and security updates, technology infrastructure, device replacement for the district’s 1:1 program, buses, equipment updates for several student programs, and equipment improvements at the GCISD Swim Center. The GCISD total tax rate is the lowest it’s been in 25 years, and the tax rate is not expected to increase as a result of the 2024 bond.
GCISD officials will schedule informational meetings to share details and answer questions. As soon as those meetings are finalized, information will be shared through the district’s regular communication channels. In the meantime, residents are encouraged to visit www.GCISD.net/bond for more information
