Principal's Message

Good Friday Evening SPOTSYCTC Community,

It's hard to believe another week has come and gone. Time certainly flies when you're having fun. Our students and staff are constantly engaged in exciting activities. Here are some highlights from this week:

  • The Automotive Technology students had a valuable opportunity to explore the latest Snap-On technology.
  • Our JROTC Raiders and Color Guard participated in various events, showcasing their dedication.
  • Our Health Care students have been diligently preparing for their practicums.

There is always something amazing happening in this building.

As many of you are aware, there's no school for students on Tuesday, November 7, 2023. I also want to remind you that November 15th is a half-day for all students, and it's designated as a teacher/parent communication day. If you wish to schedule an appointment with one of our instructors, they will either be reaching out with instructions, or you can directly contact them.

We've arranged two different meeting times for your convenience. From 2:00 to 4:00 PM, conferences can be held either in person or virtually. For the 5:00 to 7:00 PM slots, meetings will be conducted exclusively in a virtual format.

Just a quick reminder, if you need to pick up your student early from SpotsyCTC, kindly come inside to sign them out. We greatly value attendance, especially since most of our classes run for double blocks, and we want to ensure our students don't miss out on any of the exciting learning opportunities.

In our efforts to enhance the educational experience, many of our instructors utilize Canvas, which has proven to be a valuable tool. You may occasionally find assignments, readings, and other course materials posted on Canvas. By having students complete these tasks on their own time, our instructors can allocate more time to hands-on lab work and other real-world experiences, enriching their education.

Each week we will take the opportunity to spotlight our students, staff, programs and schools through our newsletters, social media platforms, school announcements and video boards. Stay connected with us through our social media platforms:

  • Facebook: SpotsyCTC
  • Twitter: SpotsyCTC
  • Instagram: SpotsyCTC

At the SpotsyCTC we like to think we stands out as something truly special – we proudly cater to students from all five exceptional high schools and present an array of 19 distinct programs, 9 defined pathways and 24 industry-recognized credentials. Our overarching mission is to equip every student with the readiness to venture into the workforce, pursue higher education, engage in training programs, or even serve in the military. Through immersive, hands-on classroom experiences, we provide students with real-world skills and enable them to dive into Workplace Learning, Job Shadowing, Internship/Externship programs, Student Organizations, and a host of other enriching avenues.

Good luck to all of our students who are participating in activities this weekend and next week. I know we have so many students who are involved in the fine arts, sports, clubs, outside events and other extracurricular activities. This journey requires substantial extra time, countless hours of preparation and a skillful juggling of academics, personal life and sometimes work commitments. Good Luck and continued success and remember The Power of Little Things, Transforming into Big Achievements"!

Please be careful this weekend, especially with the anticipation of heavy rain in the area. I hope you find some time to unwind, recharge, and enjoy precious moments with loved ones. We look forward to seeing everyone back on Monday.

“SPOTSYCTC…. The Bridge that connects YOUR NOW to YOUR FUTURE

2023-2024 theme is: “The Power of Little Things, Transforming into Big Achievements."

CAREER CORNER with Miss. Mclaughlin

We have had exciting things happening for career readiness at the SPOTSYCTC. We had 14 students hand selected by their teachers to attend a field trip on Oct 19th that the Fredericksburg City Commerce- Work Now Committee organized. Students were able to practice their interview skills and receive feedback from the wonderful volunteers who came out to support our students.

We had our first SPOTSYCTC student go on an Externship this school year through the Ready- S.E.T.- GO! program. Danielle Greer, who wants to pursue a career in school nursing, partnered with the wonderful Nurse Benton at Spotsylvania Elementary School for a week and was able to receive valuable experience and knowledge of what a career in school nursing would be like and the steps she will need to take to get there. Thank you Nurse Benton for hosting Mrs. Greer's externship.

Goodwill Rappahannock has rolled out a new program that our students may find useful in helping build resumes and exploring career options. This is the link to sign up and it's completely free. http://www.mycareeradvisor.com/login?utm_source=flyer&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=mca-launch-summer-2023.

Deadlines to have signed externship applications are quickly approaching. If you have applied for an externship please turn in your signed application to Mrs. McLaughlin in the main office as soon as possible. Also if you have not turned in your training agreements please get those back to your teachers.
