Update Student Cell Phone Contact in Genesis
We are asking for your voluntary assistance in updating your student’s contact information within the Genesis Student Information System. This is a crucial step in strengthening our ability to communicate directly with students during urgent and emergent situations.
To ensure rapid communication when time is of the essence, we are asking that every parent or guardian add their student's personal cell phone number to their child's contact profile in Genesis.
Why this update is critical:
Emergency Communication: In the event of a building emergency, this allows us to send immediate, direct instructions to your student.
Critical Updates: This contact will be used to quickly share essential, time-sensitive instructions with students, particularly when they are spread throughout the building or off campus during our common lunch period.
Data Security and Use:
Please be assured that this information is solely for internal use and will only be deployed in emergent situations. The student contact data will be securely maintained within our Thrillshare communication system and will not be used for routine, non-critical communications.
Your prompt attention to this matter is vital to ensuring the safety and preparedness of all our students.
Thank you for your cooperation.

🙌Shout Out🙌
We are thrilled to celebrate the outstanding achievement of student Alayna Athar, who has been accepted into the highly competitive NYU High School Law Institute (HSLI)!
The NYU HSLI is a selective program where high school students take rigorous weekend classes taught directly by the faculty of the prestigious NYU School of Law. This is a remarkable opportunity that reflects Alayna's academic excellence, intellectual curiosity, and dedication to pursuing demanding legal studies.
Congratulations, Alayna, on this incredible accomplishment! The entire school community is proud of your success.
Biology
Our biology students are getting hands-on experience in the lab this week, using chemical indicators to test and identify the major macromolecules of life: carbohydrates, lipids, and proteins. This practical investigation allows students to see how these essential building blocks are detected in various unknown samples, connecting classroom theory directly to real-world chemistry.

National Honor Society Peer Tutoring
Need a Tutor? The National Honor Society Cedar Grove High School offers Peer Tutoring for all
high-school students (you do not need to be a member of NHS to request a peer tutor). If you
would like to request a peer tutor, please follow the procedure below and check out the peer
tutoring catalog in the attachments for the students name, availability, and subjects they are
offering to teach. We have an amazing group of Senior NHS tutors who are eager to tutor your
student/child.
Procedures:
● Students should contact their teacher for additional assistance.
● Teachers/Counselors may recommend students try the National Honors Society peer
tutoring program.
● Teachers may share this catalog with students in need of tutoring, and the student may
select a tutor that they believe will be a good fit for them. Please keep in mind that many
students tutor in multiple subjects (and many students tutor in the same subject), so try
to find who you feel will be the best fit for your needs.
● Contact Ms.Halawani by email to notify her of your tutor preference BEFORE contacting
the tutor. If a teacher/counselor is contacting Ms. Halawani on behalf of a student,
please include the student in the email.
● After confirming tutor availability with Ms.Halawani copy down your tutor’s contact
information from the catalog.
● Contact your tutor to schedule your sessions.
● Report back to Ms. Halawani informing her of when you are holding tutoring sessions.
Note: Any conflicts/issues should be reported to Ms Halawani: halawani.mirna@cgshools.org
