π Author Visit
DaVinci Academy is thrilled to announce our first author event of the 2024/25 school year! Local Minnesota author, Matt Eicheldinger, will visit Davinci Academy on Thursday, October to talk about his two books, The Curse of the Ten Broken Toes and The Day Nora Ate the Sun. These action-packed, humorous novels are sure to have readers staying up with a flashlight reading past their bedtime! Students will attend a presentation with the authors and be able to take home an autographed book. Students in grades third through eighth will attend the event, but anyone can order the book.
This event is sponsored by Red Balloon Books. DaVinci Academy author events are supported by book purchases. Without book purchases we will not be able to host authors in the future. Our goal is to have 75 books in kids hands after Mattβs talks. Having an autographed book is a very special thing; I still have my book from Hadley Irwin when I was in fourth grade. Please help us to create these special memories for your children. Click the order button below.
Order Deadline is October 1, 2024
πΈ Picture Retake Day
School Picture Retake Day has been moved to Friday, October 4. If your child missed the original picture day or you would like a retake, this is the perfect opportunity!
Please remember that all students should be in uniform for their pictures.
π§ Mental Health Minute
October is National Bullying Prevention Month, a time to educate ourselves about bullying, how to prevent it, and intervene if it occurs.
Defined by Stopbullying.gov, bullying involves unwanted, aggressive behavior that is repeated over time and reflects a power imbalance.
If left unchecked, bullying can lead to significant long-term challenges for all involved. According to PACER, 22% of students report being bullied due to looks (55%), body shape (37%), and race (16%). Victims are notably more likely to experience suicidal thoughts and attempts.
What can we do to prevent bullying?
Promote kindness, empathy, and respect.
Help students learn the difference between conflict, meanness, and bullying.
Encourage your student to be an upstander
Support them in reaching out to trusted adults who can help create a safer environment.
Our school enforces a zero tolerance policy on bullying. Please review our bullying prohibition policy for more information.
Additional resources are available at Stopbullying.gov and PACER for further support.
