Run 4 Funds
A huge thank you to everyone for the emails sent, the donations solicited, the volunteers that helped, and the families that cheered on our students from the sidelines! We truly could not have done it without you. We finished at 107.8% to our $27,500 goal and prize day is more than well deserved! We are still needing volunteers for the day. There are 3 different sign ups linked and all are for the same prize day just broken up by which prizes get distributed when.
Due to our pivot because of the weather, the Foam Party will be on Prize Day as well so please make sure your student is prepared accordingly (extra socks, possibly clothes, towel etc)

1st Round of Teacher support for conferences
One of the things we like to do as a PTA is show our teachers support and one of those ways is by providing dinner for them on those 12+ hour conference days. Elementary school is broken up into two sessions and this is for the first one. If you are unable to bring food but are still wanting to help we are accepting donations via the PTA link on the school website. It has been brought up that work makes food donation impossible and this is the solution we have come up with so hopefully it makes things easier on your end.

Reminders...
Welcome to October!
If you have not scheduled flu vaccination appointments, please do so soon. October is the target month to get the flu vaccination. Please do not give ibuprofen or acetaminophen (or any other pain medication) prior to the vaccines. The medications can be administered 4 hours after the vaccines if needed. I am having mine today after work along with the new COVID vaccine.
The health office has been overflowing with allergy symptoms of runny noses, coughs, sore throats from coughing, and headaches. Please encourage fluids. You can speak with your health care provider about over-the-counter allergy medicines if necessary. Please do not send cough drops (or any medication) with your child to keep in their backpack or pocket.
Please let me know how I can help.

How to Volunteer
Our parent volunteers are our rock and help us navigate through the school year with less stress. If you are interested in volunteering, here is how to get your badge and clearance.
We will be asking parents to get their volunteer badges to be chaperones during field trips.
STEP 1: Complete the Screening Process (Background Check). Click Here to be directed to the Aurora Public Schools' website for the screening process.
STEP 2: Fill out the Volunteer form for Mr. Adams, our Family Liaison. He will reach out to you so you can send him a picture of your valid driver's license (front only) and a picture of yourself with a plain background for your badge. Mr. Adams will submit the "Volunteer Approval Form" with both pictures to the Safety & Security Department.
Your volunteer badge will be sent to the school and you will be informed so that you can pick it up once approval from the Safety & Security Department goes through.

Healthy Kids Colorado Survey Coming Sept. 15 - Oct. 9
Aurora Public Schools 6-12th Grade Parents and Guardians:
It is important to understand what is truly going on with the young people in our lives, especially around topics that may be uncomfortable for them to talk about. Thatβs why APS is proud to join districts across the state in administering a voluntary and anonymous survey to all middle and high school students in an effort to gauge their physical, social and emotional well being.
The Healthy Kids Colorado Survey (HKCS) will help build, enhance and expand programs and practices that improve the health of our youth, not only across our district, but throughout the state. This informative video explains how the HKCS will provide the insight we need to properly address the needs of our youth and support them in powering their potential.
Please note that the survey will touch on multiple health topics including weight, nutrition, physical activity, suicide, violence, bullying, mental health, school safety, tobacco, alcohol, marijuana, drugs, and sexual health. It will also ask questions around youth engagement in their schools and communities. Students are free to skip any questions they donβt fully understand or feel comfortable answering.
You may view the middle school survey, as well as the high school survey. If you wish to opt your child out of participating in the survey, please fill out this Opt-Out Form no later than Friday, Sept. 12. Families may also visit their childβs school to request and complete a printed version of the opt-out form.
The HKCS is supported by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, the Colorado Department of Human Services, the Colorado Department of Public Safety, the Colorado Department of Education, and an advisory group of state and local partners. It will be administered online during the school day and will be open to schools Sept. 15 to Oct. 9, 2025.
The data collected will be available to the community in summer of 2026. With this information, state leaders will be able to identify the top challenges that students are facing. This will aid district staff including our Mental Health and Counseling team in providing students with proper prevention and support resources.
To learn more about the Healthy Kids Colorado Survey, review the FAQ, visit HealthyKidsColo.org, or contact Healthy Kids Colorado Survey Director Dr. Ashley Brooks-Russell at 303-724-8437.
Thank you for your continued support.
