Berry Families,

I want to give a thank you to Ms. Vinland for sharing a great quote this week. She met Landon Donovan this week and this is something he writes about from his life and soccer career.
“How you do anything is how you do everything.”

I love that. It connects directly to who we are at Berry. We talk a lot about Bears RISING UP—about responsibility, integrity, safety, and empathy. These are not “one-time” actions. It’s not, “Remember that one time I was responsible?” or “That one time I showed integrity.” That’s not what we’re building here.

At Berry, we are working to grow students—and a community—who live these values every day. Not perfectly, but consistently. Yes, we will all make mistakes. That’s part of learning. But through that learning and growth, we build strong character and a strong community together.

So here’s a question for all of us:
What are you doing to grow in your life—personally? professionally?

Reach out, share where you want to grow, share your goals. Let’s keep building something special—together.

Quiero dar las gracias a la Sra. Vinland por compartir una gran cita esta semana. Ella conoció a Landon Donovan esta semana, y esto es algo sobre lo que él escribe a partir de su vida y su carrera futbolística:

Me encanta esa frase. Conecta directamente con quienes somos en Berry. Hablamos mucho sobre los *Bears RISING UP* (los «Osos que se alzan»): sobre la responsabilidad, la integridad, la seguridad y la empatía. Estas no son acciones «de una sola vez». No se trata de decir: «¿Recuerdas aquella vez en que fui responsable?» o «Aquella vez en que demostré integridad». Eso no es lo que estamos construyendo aquí.

En Berry, trabajamos para formar estudiantes —y una comunidad— que vivan estos valores cada día. No de manera perfecta, pero sí de manera constante. Sí, todos cometeremos errores. Eso es parte del aprendizaje. Pero, a través de ese aprendizaje y crecimiento, construimos juntos un carácter sólido y una comunidad fuerte.

Así que aquí va una pregunta para todos nosotros:

¿Qué estás haciendo para crecer en tu vida? ¿En el ámbito personal? ¿En el profesional?

Acércate, comparte en qué áreas deseas crecer, comparte tus metas. Sigamos construyendo algo especial, juntos.

Families. Testing begins NEXT WEEK. Again please speak to your students about doing their best. Coming to school on time (or even early to grab breakfast and wake up their minds, not be rushing in the morning, and just be well prepared. Believe it or not these things will actually even get your student a higher score. Then its effort. Encourage them to do their best during testing. It takes all of us to demonstrate how amazing the Berry Community is. Testing is a part of that too!

Estimadas familias: Las pruebas comienzan la PRÓXIMA SEMANA. Una vez más, por favor hablen con sus estudiantes sobre la importancia de dar lo mejor de sí mismos: llegar a la escuela a tiempo (o incluso un poco antes para desayunar y despejar la mente), evitar las prisas matutinas y, simplemente, estar bien preparados. THE BERRY BUBBLE RUN IS HERE - This Friday will be the first ever Bubble Run. Families are welcome to come out and watch. Unfortunately, you CANNOT participate as our insurance will not cover you during the school day. You can bring signs, and posters, and cheer and bring bubbles to blow etc. Let's make this a FANTASTIC TIME and help Berry raise money for more events.

IMPORTANT NEXT YEAR MINIMUM DAYS - Beginning NEXT YEAR The dismissal time for all minimum days will be changing. We wanted to make sure you had time to plan. Dismissal for all minimum days will be TK and K out at 12:35 and all other grades at 1:00. Please plan ahead for next year.

FREE GROCERIES -This Monday Feeding San Diego will be at Berry THE FIRST AND THIRD MONDAYS of the month. Distribution will begin between 8:00-8:30. Please make sure your child is in the cafeteria or dropped off in the blacktop BEFORE you get in line so that they will be marked on time for school. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN BAGS, cart, wagon, or box for groceries and you need ee do not have any.

¡LLEGÓ LA BERRY BUBBLE RUN! — Este viernes se llevará a cabo la primera Bubble Run de la historia. Las familias son bienvenidas a asistir como espectadores. Lamentablemente, NO podrán participar, ya que nuestro seguro no los cubre durante el horario escolar. Pueden traer carteles y pancartas, animar, traer burbujas para soplar, etc. ¡Hagamos de este un momento FANTÁSTICO y ayudemos a Berry a recaudar fondos para más eventos!

IMPORTANTE: Días de horario reducido para el próximo año — A partir del PRÓXIMO AÑO, el horario de salida para todos los días de horario reducido cambiará. Berry Community Schools Update

We are excited to share some of the amazing work happening at Berry through our Community Schools efforts!

Learning & Growing Together
Last month, a team of Berry staff, parents, and community members attended the CABE Conference in San Francisco. This opportunity, supported by our Community Schools grant, allowed us to learn new ways to better support our students and families. We brought back ideas focused on belonging, strong family partnerships, and systems that help every student succeed no matter where they go.

The Berry Den (Room 4) is Growing!
We are currently redesigning the Berry Den to better serve our families! This space will include:
• Family resources & information
• A welcoming meeting/training area
• A kids’ corner
• A space for volunteers

This is your space! Please stop by, share your ideas, and let us know what you would love to see in the room.

Here to Support You
If your family needs support such as school supplies, clothing, food, or housing resources, please stop by the Berry Den. If we don’t have what you need, we will help connect you with community partners who can.

• Navigating conversations about drugs and making safe choices

We appreciate your honesty and partnership as we work to bring these important resources and trainings to our Berry community.

Ongoing Learning
Our Community Schools team continues to grow! Mr. Prosapio and I attend monthly trainings to strengthen our work and bring even more resources and support to our Berry families.

Health Services at Berry
Last month, we partnered with the San Ysidro Health Mobile Unit to provide free vaccines on campus—thank you to all who participated!

¡Estamos emocionados de compartir el increíble trabajo que está sucediendo en Berry a través de nuestros esfuerzos de Escuelas Comunitarias!

Aprendiendo y Creciendo Juntos
El mes pasado, un equipo de personal de Berry, padres y miembros de la comunidad asistió a la Conferencia CABE en San Francisco. Esta oportunidad, apoyada por nuestro subsidio de Escuelas Comunitarias, nos permitió aprender nuevas maneras de apoyar mejor a nuestros estudiantes y familias. Regresamos con ideas enfocadas en el sentido de pertenencia, fuertes alianzas con las familias y sistemas que ayudan a cada estudiante a tener éxito, sin importar a dónde vaya.

¡El Berry Den (Salón 4) Está Creciendo!
Actualmente estamos rediseñando el Berry Den para servir mejor a nuestras familias. Este espacio incluirá:
• Recursos e información para familias
• Un área acogedora para reuniones/capacitaciones
• Un espacio para niños
• Un área para voluntarios

¡Este es su espacio! Pase a visitarnos, comparta sus ideas y díganos qué le gustaría ver en el salón.

Aprendizaje Continuo
Nuestro equipo de Escuelas Comunitarias sigue creciendo. El Sr. Prosapio y yo continuamos asistiendo a capacitaciones mensuales para fortalecer nuestro trabajo y brindar aún más recursos y apoyo a nuestras familias.

Servicios de Salud en Berry
El mes pasado, nos asociamos con la Unidad Móvil de Salud de San Ysidro para ofrecer vacunas gratuitas en la escuela. ¡Gracias a todas las familias que participaron!

We had some great news! The work you are doing is working. our chronic absenteeism went DOWN between February and March for the first time in four years. Great work families. PLEASE let's work together to get kids to school every day.
