Say Something:

We have had various trainings since the beginning of school. Most students have become comfortable with our daily procedures and expectations. However, please encourage your children to "say something" if they hear anything that may be alarming (a threat, someone wanting to harm themselves, etc.). It is important for your child to inform an adult as soon as possible. This will allow us to investigate and ensure all students are safe in a positive learning environment.

The students have access in their Google Drive to the Student Reporting Statement. They can also submit a referral at any time throughout the day (they are aware of this).

Students can report serious issues through the Stopit App. Students have been trained with this as well.

Please discuss these items with your students tonight. If they are not sure how to utilize these programs, please have them speak to a teacher, counselor, or administrator. We want all students to:

1. Recognize the Signs - Learn about different types of warning signs or threats and how to spot them, especially on social media.

2. Act immediately and take it seriously.

3. Say Something - Tell a trusted adult.

Middle school is challenging for students due to the physical, mental, social, and emotional changes they experience during their adolescent years. We want all students to feel safe at MTMS. Safety is our top goal, and we want you to reinforce these strategies at home. As a community working together, we can provide the best for our students.
