Developing lifelong learners through positive collaboration.
Happy Sunday, Team!
I hope you all had a restful weekend and are ready for another fantastic week ahead. I’m looking forward to a day of learning with you tomorrow! We’ll dive into our writing workshop curriculum, and I’m eager to explore the Lucy Calkins units together. Having taught from these units myself, I witnessed tremendous growth in both my students and my own understanding of the writing process.
Additionally, we’ll have the opportunity to work with Scott Salmons to discuss effective de-escalation strategies for the classroom—an essential topic for many of us.
The PD MOnday aligns beautifully with our mission of developing lifelong learners through positive collaboration. By working together and sharing our insights, we can enhance our understanding of teaching and learning as well as create a richer and healthier environment for our students and staff.
I also want to highlight that Picture Day is coming up soon. Please remember that all student orders must be submitted through the Wagner Portrait Group website. I’ll be sending messages to parents via text, our website, Facebook, and email to keep everyone informed.
Thank you for your continued dedication. Let’s make this week a great one!
With gratitude,
Jill

Celebrations!
I want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible dedication you’ve shown during our data team meetings. Your commitment to data-based decision-making around curriculum and instruction is truly inspiring!
By collaborating and analyzing data together, we are not only identifying trends but also creating targeted strategies that support every student’s unique needs. This work aligns perfectly with our mission of developing lifelong learners through positive collaboration. Each meeting reinforces our shared goal of fostering a learning environment where every student can thrive.
Thank You!
- Thank you to everyone who attended this year's intruder training! While no one likes to have these conversations, your time and attention to student safety is greatly appreciated.
- Last week there was 24.5 sub requests, we were able to fill 18 of them. Thank you to everyone who pitched in and helped cover where needed.
Quick Notes
- Staff special: lasagna
- 4th & 5th Grade Teams- your field trips need to be scheduled for 1st semester. Please make sure you are working on this. With the limited number of bus drivers finding an agreeable date may take time.
- I will still give out wrist pets if someone brings their envelope in, however, I will no longer promote the school store fundraiser during morning assembly.
- You must enter your leave in SISFin. If your leave is pre planned it is a courtousy to let Debbie and I know however, I can not formally approve it until you put it in SISFin.
- If you don't know how to use SISFin please see Debbie, she will help you.
- Any time you call the office to have a child removed from your classroom you must document this through a minor or office referral.

The next drill, a tornado drill is scheduled for October 16th around 9:00 am. I know you have practiced this with your class and we have practiced as a building, however, please review the procedure with your class prior to our school wide drill.
Climate and Culture Survery: October 16th- November 1st
Grades 3-5 Only
Each fall, Dr. Schluss distributes a climate and culture survey to the parents of all our students, as well as to students in grades 3-5. To ensure we receive meaningful feedback, Laura or I will assist in administering the survey by reading the prompts aloud and clarifying any unfamiliar words.
You are encouraged to stay in the classroom during this process to help support our students. Please follow the link below to select the best time for you to participate, and remember to sign up at least 24 hours in advance so that Laura and I can include it in our planning.
