Mr. Jackson's Weekly Message
Happy Friday, Coleman Families and Community!
Join us in saying adios to another busy week at Coleman MS! Early this week, we completed our Fall hard lockdown drill. We are thankful to Officer Fortson for her leadership, GCPS SROs, City of Duluth police officers, and Staff and Students for a great job during our Fall Hard lockdown Drill. While we pray never to have to use this process, it is vital that our students and staff know what to do should the need arise. Another shout-out to students in Ms. Alsup's homeroom who surrounded a new student with love as they welcomed her to Coleman. This was such a heartwarming sight to observe. Our students really work to build community with each other at Coleman. This happens because of the work that our teachers do in modeling meaningful engagement and care, as seen in the photo of Jen Johnson below during Table-Top club.
Join me in celebrating Chaitya, Rooney, Lia, and Chelsea as our Coleman NJROTC cadets! These students go for drills at DHS Monday-Friday before school starts at Coleman and then show up here to do a great job as well. We are so proud of their hard work!
Lastly, I am so excited to see our students highlighted during the festival tomorrow. An added point of pride is that our very own namesake, Dr. Coleman, will be the grand marshal of the parade! If you are looking for a great opportunity for family-friendly fun, join us tomorrow for the parade and festival activities.
In partnership for excellence,
G
Gregory C. Jackson
Principal
Shout out to our officers for their support during our hard lockdown drill!

Counselors' Corner
College and Career Readiness
Coleman Counselors will begin the delivery of our College and Career Readiness lessons this month! We engage students in this process through a platform called SchooLinks. On SchooLinks, students have the opportunity to take self-assessments and personality inventories, build a profile tailored to their interests and aspirations, and apply this to the research and exploration of a variety of college and career opportunities.
Parents and Guardians! Did you know that you have a SchooLinks login too?
You can use the platform to monitor and support student progress through their college and career readiness journey.
Parents can view the activities their students have completed, like interest inventories, learning units, and their academic plans.
Conduct your own research on colleges and careers to help you have informed conversations with your student.
In high school, students will use their SchooLinks profile to create graduation plans.
