Dear Wilson Families,

With the start of a new school year, I want to extend a warm greeting to all of our returning families and those joining the Wilson community for the first time. A new school year brings fresh opportunities, new goals, and the excitement of watching our students continue to learn, grow, and succeed.

Before the first day of school arrived, our campuses remained busy throughout the summer. Wilson Summer Academy provided students with opportunities to strengthen their academic skills, while our PBS Summer Camp offered engaging activities that encouraged teamwork, creativity, and positive experiences beyond the classroom. It was wonderful to see so many students continue learning, building friendships, and staying connected to their school community during the summer months.

These successful programs would not have been possible without the dedication of our incredible staff. I would like to sincerely thank our teachers, support staff, administrators, and everyone who worked throughout the summer to create meaningful experiences for our students. Your commitment to serving our families extends far beyond the traditional school year, and your efforts continue to make a lasting difference in the lives of our students.

As we have began this new school year, we are excited for all that lies ahead. Together, we will continue building a positive learning environment where every student is supported, challenged, and encouraged to reach their full potential.

Thank you for choosing Wilson and for being an important part of our school community. We look forward to an outstanding school year filled with learning, growth, and many memorable moments.

Welcome back, Wildcats!

With appreciation,
Mr. Rose
Superintendent
Wilson Elementary School District

A One-Stop Start to the New School Year A One-Stop Start to the New School Year

As summer came to an end, Wilson School District kicked off the new school year with a day full of opportunities, resources, and family fun. On Thursday, July 30, families were invited to attend the 2nd Annual Back to School Extravaganza, an event designed to help students start the year prepared and excited for the first day of school.

The day began with a Job Fair from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Primary Gym, giving community members the opportunity to explore career opportunities within the district.

The excitement continued from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. with activities and resources for the whole family. Families received free haircuts, purchased new Wilson logo shirts, and connected with a variety of community organizations offering valuable resources and services. Representatives from organizations such as Phoenix Children's Hospital, Smile Zone, Community Family Services, Fulfillment in Training, and other local partners were present to provide information and support.

The day concluded with Meet the Teacher from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Beginning in the Primary Cafeteria, families were able to pick up school supplies, meet their teachers, explore their campuses, and get ready for a successful first day of school.

Learning in Action: Summer Academy Brings Projects to Life Learning in Action: Summer Academy Brings Projects to Life

While summer is often a time to relax, many Wilson students spent part of their break continuing to learn in exciting new ways during Summer Academy.

Designed for older students, Summer Academy focused on project-based learning, giving students opportunities to apply what they know through hands-on activities, collaboration, and creative problem-solving. Instead of traditional classroom lessons, students worked on meaningful projects that encouraged them to ask questions, think critically, and explore real-world connections.

Throughout the month, classrooms were filled with teamwork as students planned, created, tested ideas, and shared their work with classmates. Whether working in small groups or independently, students took ownership of their learning while building important skills such as communication, creativity, and perseverance.

Summer Academy also gave students the chance to stay engaged academically while enjoying a different learning environment. The program kept minds active, strengthened problem-solving skills, and helped students build confidence before the start of the new school year.

Thank you to our dedicated teachers and staff who made Summer Academy a success. Their commitment to providing engaging learning opportunities helped make June a month filled with discovery, collaboration, and growth for our students.

Summer Reading Adventures at PBS Academy Summer Reading Adventures at PBS Academy

Learning didn't stop when summer arrived at Wilson Primary. All throughout July, our youngest students participated in the PBS Summer Academy, where every day was designed to strengthen literacy skills through engaging, hands-on learning experiences.

Throughout the three-week program, students explored reading and writing through interactive activities that made learning both meaningful and fun. Classrooms were transformed into spaces where students rotated through literacy stations, participated in group reading, completed creative projects, and practiced foundational reading skills through games and collaborative activities.

The academy focused on helping students build confidence as readers while reinforcing important skills they will carry into the new school year. Whether sounding out new words, listening to stories, or working together on classroom activities, students stayed actively engaged and excited to learn each day.

PBS Summer Academy also provided a wonderful opportunity for students to continue building routines, strengthen friendships, and maintain academic momentum during the summer months. The dedication of our teachers and staff created a welcoming environment where every student was encouraged to participate, grow, and celebrate their progress.

As the program came to a close on July 23rd, students left with stronger literacy skills, greater confidence, and excitement for the school year ahead. Wilson Primary is proud of all of our young learners and grateful to the staff who made this summer learning experience such a success.

The Wilson Community Center continues to make a difference by providing an important resource for families through our bi-weekly food Pantry. Stocked with essential food items, the pantry is available to help individuals and families experiencing food insecurity while strengthening the support network within the Wilson community.

Open on the first and third Wednesday of each month, the food pantry offers families access to groceries and pantry staples in a welcoming and supportive environment.

The Wilson Community Center believes that every family deserves access to nutritious food, and the food pantry is one of the many ways the district works alongside community partners to support students and families beyond the school day.

If you or someone you know could benefit from this service, we encourage you to visit the Wilson Community Center to learn more about all our programs and resources. Together, we can continue building a stronger, healthier community by supporting one another, one family at a time.
