COUNSELORS CORNER
Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year Highlanders! The counselors are eagerly awaiting your arrival, and we cannot wait to see you! Once you receive your schedule in your homeroom on Wednesday, your teachers have been directed on what to do if there is a scheduling problem. Counselors will be helping at all lunches throughout this week to address questions and schedule concerns. You can also email your counselor. Please note that we do not change schedules for different teachers or for different lunch periods. To find your most current schedule, please visit your Home Access Center in your SSO. Remember that schedules are subject to change. Parents and students, if you have emailed your counselor and have not received a response, we are noticing that many emails are going into our “Junk” email folder. Counselors have been notified to check their “Junk” folder intermittently. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Students have one alpha counselor in 9th grade, and in 10-12 grades, they keep the same counselor (but a different one than 9th). Students are assigned to counselors by their last names, and you can find your counselor assignment in your Home Access Center or in Naviance.
SENIORS
Senior yard signs for the Class of 2026 have been added to School Cash online. The window to order will close on August 26th.

CLINIC NOTES
Welcome back to another exciting year! We have been working hard to get the clinic ready to welcome our students. Your nurses this year are Alana Ansley at the Senior Campus, aransley@conroeisd.net or 936-709-1076, and Erica Falcon at the Ninth Grade Campus, efalcon@conroeisd.net or 832-592-8209. We are available in the clinic from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on school days.
● A new state law this year requires that parents give written consent for staff members to take care of your child at school. This includes things like taking temperatures, giving out bandaids, administering medication that parents have checked in, or conducting hearing and vision screening. You are able to make that decision when completing the annual online enrollment for your students. If you have any questions or concerns about this, please contact the clinic. If you did not complete online enrollment this summer, or previously selected No, please complete and return this form: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1wdVYBpHAyXoaYAhigV90diTZT-JybWBd/view
● As we are completing enrollment for this school year, we are contacting parents/guardians by email for students who have any overdue vaccines or expiring Conscientious Objector exemptions. Please take care of any missing vaccines promptly so that your student may remain enrolled.
● If your student requires any medications while they are on campus, they must be checked in to the clinic or athletic trainers by a parent or guardian. Students may not transport medication to or from school. All medications must be in their original, labeled container, unexpired, and we ask that you provide no more than a 30-day supply.
● Students with chronic medical conditions such as asthma, severe allergies, diabetes, or seizures are required to have a new action plan signed by their doctor and parent each school year. We highly encourage students to carry their own Epi-Pen or inhaler; those do need to be accompanied by a Medication Self-Carry form. This form must also be provided to the clinic to be kept on file throughout the school year. Please refer to https://www.conroeisd.net/page/healthservices for copies of those forms.
● If your student has a medical need to access his or her phone during the school day for critical things such as monitoring blood glucose levels or monitoring a pacemaker, please be sure to provide doctor’s orders for the current school year to the clinic, and we will inform the staff of that need.

LIBRARY: Library print cards can be purchased on School Cash Online for $2.
WELCOME CENTER SUPPORT FOR NEW FAMILIES: Welcome, Families! We hope you had a wonderful summer and enjoyed some relaxing, fun-filled days. Now that we are back, we are truly excited to welcome you!
The Newcomer center will be offering a special orientation session in Spanish for all families who are new to our school district. This is the only session that will be offered this semester in Spanish, so we encourage you to mark your calendars and make plans to attend.
We understand how challenging it can be to move to a new country—especially when English is not your first language. Communication barriers can make things even harder, and your children’s success depends in part on how well you understand the school system and the cultural differences that come with this new experience.
That’s why we warmly invite you to join us for an informative and welcoming session at The Jett Center, 19043 David Elementary Dr., Shenandoah, on September 4th at 9:30 a.m. in room 217. Please RVSP to Iytzia Cardenas at (icardenas@conroeisd.net).
If you know someone who could benefit from this session, please feel free to share the invitation with them. We want to ensure all families feel supported and informed as they begin this new chapter. We look forward to seeing you there!
