Celebrating Our Lobo Families & Staff

Thank you, Lobo families! A few weeks ago parents and staff across Levelland ISD shared 384 survey responses (257 from parents and 127 from staff), and together they tell a story of real progress across our district.

What families and staff told us

  • The average parent rating across the district rose from 4.02 last fall to 4.23 out of 5.

  • Parent ratings went up on all seven survey questions compared with last fall.

  • Families’ top-rated areas: 83% say their child feels safe at school, 82% feel welcome on their child’s campus, and 81% are satisfied with their child’s overall experience.

  • The average staff rating across the district rose from 3.64 last fall to 4.21 out of 5, with gains on every question.

  • 92% of staff feel supported when working through concerns with families, and 84% say they enjoy coming to work most days.

  • Every campus rated the support it gets from our district office higher than last fall.

In your own words

  • “I love how the kids are greeted at the door every morning with smiles and music.”

  • “I know my child is being challenged and being held at a high standard both academically and behaviorally.”

  • “Making our family feel important, seen, and heard”

  • “Communication is awesome. I always know what is happening and coming up.”

  • “The life skills department is caring and very communicative with me about my son and I love that! Makes me feel comfortable when he goes!”

Thank you!

Thank you to every Levelland ISD family who took the time to complete our fall survey. Your voice helps us celebrate what is working and keep making our schools great places for your children to learn and grow. We are proud to partner with you. Go Lobos!

National Bus Safety Week

It's National School Bus Safety Week! Our buses carry some pretty precious cargo....our kids! During School Bus Safety Week, we’re reminding everyone that keeping our students safe is a responsibility we all share, not just this week, but every day! Please remember to

STOP when the bus stop sign is out.

SLOW DOWN when you see a school bus.

WATCH for children crossing the street or getting on & off the bus.

STAY OFF YOUR PHONE—no text or call is worth risking a child’s safety.

BE SAFE—our students are depending on you!

A few extra seconds of patience & attention can make all the difference. Thank you for helping us protect our Lobos every mile of the way so they can find their place, discover their purpose, and create their future!

International Dyslexia Day

Levelland ISD students wore red last week to raise awareness of and celebrate the incredible minds of individuals with dyslexia. Students were reminded of an inspiring message about overcoming the challenges of dyslexia and that learning differently doesn't mean you can't achieve great things! Mrs. Edwards used grapefruits, pipe cleaners, and Lifesaver Gummies, so students could explore how using multiple senses helps our brains build stronger connections called dendrites, which play an important role in learning and remembering new information. Did you know that famous filmmaker Steven Spielberg has dyslexia? Despite experiencing challenges with reading, he went on to become one of the most successful directors in movie history! His story is a powerful reminder that dyslexia does not define a person's intelligence, creativity, or potential. When we wore red, it was more than just wearing a color. We raised awareness, building understanding, celebrated differences, and reminded every student that there is no single way to learn or succeed! At Levelland ISD, we believe every student deserves the opportunity to discover their strengths, embrace their unique abilities, and Find Their Place!

Fields of Faith

More than 60 Levelland ISD students attended Fields of Faith at Galaxy Stadium alongside Coach Dixon and Coach Carter! Students gathered with other young people for an incredible evening of powerful messages of faith, encouragement, and hope. We are especially touched that several of our students made personal decisions to accept Christ, rededicate their lives to Him, or dedicate their lives to Him for the very first time! Events like Fields of Faith give students a chance to step away from everyday distractions, reflect on their lives, build meaningful friendships, and discover the importance of a strong foundation of faith and positive influences. It also reminds them they are never alone and that caring adults and peers are cheering them on. We are thankful for Coach Dixon and Coach Carter, who invest in our students beyond the classroom and encourage them to grow in character, confidence, and purpose. Sometimes finding your place means discovering who you are, what you believe, and the person you want to become!

Mass Lab!

Capitol Elementary 4th graders became young scientists during their hands-on Mass Lab in Mrs. Diane DeLuna's class! Students first predicted the mass of different objects and then used triple-beam balances to measure their actual mass and compare the results. This engaging activity helped students practice estimating, measuring, and using scientific tools while strengthening their critical-thinking and problem-solving skills. Learning by doing makes science come alive with Mrs. DeLuna! These young scientists are discovering that science is all around them as they Find Their Place!

Texas History

Coach Chambers is making Texas History come to life at LMS! Students created and built a mix of Missions, Pueblos, and Presidios, then used toy soldiers to reenact the Pueblo Revolt of 1680 using dice in a board-game style project!

Fine Arts Winners!

LHS has talented students. Recently, Abigail Isreal earned Honorable Mention with her artwork from Mr. Hope's Art Class. Abigail's stunning, colorful artwork captures the beauty and intricate details of the human eye! It's no wonder her artistic talent earned a ribbon.

Also Jessi Slape won first place in the Falling for the Wallace Contest with her artwork. The Wallace theme was "Stories by Starlight: a Story in Art" and this contest also required a short story to be entered with the artwork. Jessi's "The Long Way Home" creation earned a first-place ribbon. You can see how fabulous her artwork is!

And finally, MJ Niederhauser won The Wallace's Talent Show Contest, hosted by Levelland's Breakfast Rotary. If you haven't heard MJ sing, you are missing out on a real treat.

Congratulations to all three of these LHS girls on a job well done. You are definitely finding your place!

Senior Career Expo

Our Levelland High School seniors took an exciting step toward their futures by attending the South Plains Youth Career Expo in Lubbock! Students explored a variety of career paths, interacted with industry professionals, asked questions, and gained valuable insight into the skills, education, and training needed for different professions. Experiences like this help students connect classroom learning to real-world opportunities! Whether they plan to attend college, enter the workforce, pursue technical training, or serve in the military, our seniors are discovering the possibilities ahead and gaining the knowledge to make informed decisions about their futures. We send out a huge thank you to our LHS Counselors and to Workforce Solutions, South Plains College, UMC, LEDA, South Plains Community Action and more for investing in our young people and helping them see the many opportunities waiting beyond graduation! At Levelland ISD, we want every student to Find Their Place, Discover Their Purpose, and Create Their Future!

South Plains Fair Winners!

Every year, Mrs. Young’s Lobo Diner students put their cooking skills to the test by baking cookies to enter in the South Plains Fair! You can see all the awards earned and we are excited for these kids! But these sweet treats represent so much more than just cookies! Before entering the fair, students work hard to master important kitchen skills like reading and following recipes, measuring ingredients, mixing, baking, managing time, and practicing kitchen safety. Along the way, they are learning to follow directions, solve problems, work together, take responsibility, and take pride in a job well done! We are so proud of Mrs. Young and her Lobo Diner students! They remind us that learning isn't always found in a textbook. Sometimes it's found in a mixing bowl, measured one ingredient at a time, and baked with a whole lot of pride! We thank Mrs. Young for helping students find their place, discover their purpose, and create their future! https://files.smartsites.parentsquare.com/8584/video.mp4

The Wind & the Willows @ The Wallace!

Our Capitol and South Elementary third graders recently stepped into the magical world of The Wind in the Willows at The Wallace Theater! First published in 1908 by Kenneth Grahame, this beloved children's classic teaches timeless lessons about friendship, loyalty, adventure, responsibility, and the importance of home and belonging. Seeing these unforgettable characters come to life on stage made the story even more meaningful for our young learners! We are so grateful to The Wallace Theater for continuing to partner with Levelland ISD and providing experiences that take learning beyond the classroom! Live theater sparks imagination, encourages creativity, builds an appreciation for the arts, and helps students connect literature to real-life lessons. Thank you, Wallace Theater, for helping our students discover the magic of storytelling and reminding them that everyone has a place where they belong!
