I am Carrie Moix, your Proud Principal of Gregory Luna Middle School. We hope that you have had an amazing summer and are geared up and ready for the upcoming school year.
We are so excited to welcome our new Longhorns and to reconnect with our returning students. We look forward to partnering with you, to make this the best year yet, for each of our Longhorns. Our first day school is Monday, August 10th. We can't wait to see everyone on campus! We have many new families, students and staff joining our Longhorn family, we are here to support your student in this school transition.
This newsletter will be your go-to source for all things Luna. You will find important dates, upcoming events, campus expectations and much more. Please take the time to read this newsletter each month and to save it for future reference. We will also load it on our campus website, for your convenience.
Our campus is back open Monday-Friday, call or stop by if you need anything. We would love to meet you.

Brian Pfeiffer - Associate Principal
Mr. Pfeiffer started in education in 2010. He taught for nine years before becoming a campus administrator. He wants to help create a safe school community where teachers want students to succeed and students take pride in their school and education.
Ms. Aguero - Head Counselor
Ms. Massengill - 6th Grade ELA Teacher/Coordinator
This is Ms. Massengill's 9th year in education. She previously served as a Secondary ELAR Curriculum Specialist in another district. She has taught English Language Arts and Reading in grades 6–11.
Ms. Massengill believes every student can grow when they feel supported, challenged, and valued. I'm passionate about building meaningful relationships with students and creating a classroom where curiosity, collaboration, and a love of reading and learning can thrive.
Mr. Gardner - 8th Grade Social Studies Teacher/Coordinator
Mr. Gardner came to us from Hobby Middle School where he was the Social Studies Coordinator. Mr. Gardner's family is about to grow any day now. He and his wife are expecting their first child, a boy named Theodore.
Ms. New - 8th Grade Science Teacher/Coordinator
Ms. New is coming to us from Indian River Middle School in Chesapeake, VA. She worked for the US Navy for 10 years, before becoming a teacher.
Coach Talamantez - Head Girls Coach
Coach Talamantez comes to us from Zachry Middle School where she taught 8th Grade Science and was the Girls Assistant Coach. Coach Talamantez values communication, teamwork and doing what's best for our students. She believes in showing up, working hard, and creating an environment where students can be successful and enjoy being part of the program.
Ms. Hernandez - 8th Grade Pre-Algebra & Algebra
Ms. Hernandez came to us from Neff Middle School where she taught for 10 years. She is passionate about building confidence in our young students in math. She is looking forward to being part of the Luna Family!
Ms. Sadosky - Spanish Teacher & Longhorn Coach
This will be Ms. Sadosky's first year of teaching. When she was an undergrad student, she had the opportunity to study abroad in Spain.
Coach Hawkins - PE Teacher & Coach
Ms. Gaitan - 6th Grade Math
Ms. Gaitan is coming to us from Evers Elementary School where she taught 3rd grade.
Ms. Gaitan is a big Taylor Swift fan, a proud cat mom to her kitten, Severus. She loves getting creative and finding fun ways to make learning meaningful for her students!
Ms. Tyler-Budovec - ESL Teacher
Ms. Tyler-Budovec is dedicated to her family and to the support of our students.
Ms. Leonard - Special Education Teacher
Coach Warren - 7th Texas History Teacher & Coach
Coach Warren came to us from Warren High School where he taught Government and was the Head Boys Baseball Coach. He has a golden retriever name Yogi, after Yogi Berra.
Ms. Soto - 7th Grade Math
Attention Football Players and Parents: Please read the below Flyer for our Football Equipment hand out Night. All Equipment and Athletic lockers will be handed out only to those athletes who have been cleared on Rankone. If your student shows as green there they are cleared. Any missing paperwork will need to be finished before Equipment can be handed out. The four main items to get cleared are below.
