Sundays From The Mesa # 5
September 4th - 8th

Happy Labor Day Weekend!
Dear Alta Mesa Families,
I hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful cool weather this weekend. Reminder that this weekend is a 3-day weekend for Labor Day. Enjoy Monday with your families! Tuesday will not be a minimum day so remember to pick your children up at the normal time.
Here are a couple reminders for this week. Cross Country permission slips are due Tuesday, Sept 5th in order to get shirts ordered in time for the first meet. We have our Fall picture day on Friday, Sept. 8th. Both STEM and Cross Country will begin meeting this week, see the schedule below.
It's going to be another amazing week at Alta Mesa! Thank you for your continued support
Thank You,
Ryan Miller

Riffle Raffle
The Riffle Raffle is our classroom teachers main fundraiser for the year. The ticket sales are facilitated by our Alta Mesa Parent Club. If you are interested in selling tickets, please sign the ticket request form that will go home with your student.
All proceeds go to the classroom teachers Parent Club account to be used for many things including field trips and the purchase of classroom materials.
Please remember to turn in sold Riffle Raffle tickets weekly.
Site Council
Alta Mesa is looking for parent volunteers to be a part of our School Site Council. These are elected positions, but prior to elections we need volunteers on the ballot. Site Council is an oversight committee that looks specifically how the school is spending Title 1 Federal funds. The Site Council also approves our school Single Site Plan for Student Achievement and School Safety Plan. If you are interested in serving on Site Council please call our office at (530) 224-4130. Elections will be next week.
Garden Club Sign-Ups
Be a part of the 2023/2024 Alta Mesa Garden Club! We will be learning about ‘all things plants’! This year we get to use the green house and outside garden. Our meetings are Thursdays from 2:20 to 3:20 and will meet in Room 14 to start. You can be a beginning gardener or an expert to join the Garden Club. Garden Club is available for any 1st-5th grader.
Permission slips will be available in the office starting Tuesday, September 5th
Upcoming Events
Picture Day - September 8th
Picture Day will look a little different this year because Studio 530 Photography will be doing all their ordering online. There will no longer be preorders or packets that go home with your students. All orders will be made AFTER pictures have been taken.
There are benefits to this new system:
1) You will be able to view pictures before you buy them
2) You are able to fully customize backgrounds
Here are the steps for ordering pictures (a slip will go home with your students as well):
- Each student will get their picture taken on picture day and will be given a slip to take home to their parents/guardians
- A few days later parents will be able to use the slip that was sent home to register and order pictures
- If orders are placed within the first week of pictures being taken, no shipping costs will be added
Beginning Of The Year Information
Parent Portal Log-In
All parents, including new parents, should have logged into the Parent Portal at some point already. Why do you need to create a parent account? This is a secure platform through which you will view your child's teacher/class, receive your child’s report card, complete enrollment, and complete the necessary beginning-of-the-year school forms like your child's emergency card. In the future, this is also how state testing results will be communicated.
Click HERE for the link to the parent portal. If you cannot log-in successfully, please call our school's office at 224-4130. Be sure to keep your log-in information in a safe but accessible place.
