June Camp

Our June Marching Band Camp is May 30th-June 1st from 9 am-4 pm at DHS. This is required for all students participating in band or color guard during the 2023-2024 school year. Please bring water, snacks, lunch, and your instrument. We will have school owned instruments available. All winds and percussion need to wear their new rehearsal attire tennis shoes, a plain white tshirt, and athletic shorts. All color guard need to wear their new rehearsal attire - black shirts and athletic shorts.

All students need to arrive at 8:30 am on Tuesday if you need a school owned instrument. We will all start together with a student meeting at 9 am in the band hall.

We will be telling our drill writer how many spots to write in the show based on attendance at June Camp. Please communicate with us if you have a conflict with June Camp.

Parent Preview Performance and Meeting

There is a Parent Preview Performance and Meeting on June 1st at 6:30 pm in the DHS Competition Gym. Call time for students for this performance is 6 pm. All winds and percussionist will wear a plain white tshirt and athletic shorts. We are having a color guard meeting in the gym right after the main meeting and a percussion meeting in the auditorium right after the main meeting as well. These meetings are for both students and parents.

Band Lockers

All wind player will be issued lockers for their instruments on Tuesday morning. Students are required to use a school lock on their locker. All percussion students have been assigned a cubby in the percussion room. Color guard students will be issued a locker in August.

School Owned Instruments

Students will be checked out a school owned instrument if needed at June Camp. The fee is $80 for the school year and will be paid at band registration on June 3rd. Percussion students will also pay this fee. Please email Mr. Keyes if you need a school owned instrument and play flute, clarinet, alto sax, or trumpet.

All trombone players in wind ensemble and symphonic band are being asked to play marching baritone next year. We are doing this because marching all baritones and no trombones allows our drill writer to give all low brass students the same opportunities with their drill. It also reduces the wear and tear on trombone slides.

Parents and students, please take a moment to join the appropriate groups by texting the code including the @ to 81010. You do not need to re-join if you were in the correct group this year.
