TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT HELPS LIFT SPIRITS OF SCS BUS DRIVER
Our SCS Transportation Department recently helped to lift the spirits of Janet Neal, a Bus Driver for our District. Janet is currently battling pancreatic cancer. Janet’s co-workers organized a bus parade of 60 buses to pass by her house in Strongsville and send well-wishes and support in her fight against cancer. This past week, local NBC affiliate WKYC ran a story on this act of kindness.

SCS ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS RAISE MORE THAN $34,000 IN AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION CHALLENGE
Throughout February, students at all of our elementary schools learned about the importance of being heart-healthy. They were educated on hands-only CPR, engaged in heart-healthy exercises, discovered the importance of heart-healthy foods, gained new jump rope skills, and honored loved ones with special hearts. In addition, the students engaged in a fundraising competition that also earned them special prizes and raised money for the American Heart Association. Overall, students and families in our District raised $34,542.21!
Congratulations to Kinsner Elementary for raising over $12,400! Kinsner will be receiving around $1,000 from the American Heart Association and their partner, US Games, to help in the purchase of new PE equipment.
THANK YOU to everyone who registered for the Kids Heart Challenge and to all who helped raise funds for such an important cause. Your participation made a significant impact!
MUSTANG SPOTLIGHT - HOLLI MYERS, ELA & SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHER AT SMS
Mrs. Holli Myers is in her seventh year as a sixth grade teacher at Strongsville Middle School. Mrs. Myers teaches both English Language Arts (ELA) and Social Studies on the Vikings Team. She earned her undergraduate degree from Bowling Green State University and her graduate degree from the American College of Education.
“Teaching has always been my passion, and my students are my driving force—their enthusiasm and engagement inspire me every day. My students challenge me to reach greater heights and continuously seek new strategies and resources to enhance our classroom experience. From the very beginning of the year to the end, my classroom transforms into a family, where fostering relationships with each student is a core value of mine. The respect and rapport we build together is among the most fulfilling aspects of my work. It’s equally powerful to observe how my students treat one another with respect, kindness, and empathy. Coming together from five different elementary schools, they leave our classroom with a shared bond and a collective experience that strengthens our community. This classroom community is the foundation of our class, and nurturing these positive relationships is something I genuinely love about teaching.”
“As a middle school educator, I cherish the moments between class periods, as well as at the start and end of the day, when former students drop by to share their achievements. Whether it's celebrating a high score on an essay or recounting a recent leadership event, these visits remind me of the lasting impact our classroom has on their journeys. The beauty of middle school lies in these enduring relationships that begin in 6th grade and flourish throughout their middle school years. Additionally, I deeply appreciate the collaborative spirit of our close-knit team. Being part of a supportive group allows us to communicate and collaborate daily, fostering my growth as an educator and inspiring me to continually find innovative ways to challenge and engage my students. This teamwork is another vital aspect of what makes our middle school experience so special.”
Thank you Mrs. Myers for your dedication and passion in providing memorable and impactful classroom experiences for your 6th grade students! #ModelMustang
ELECTRIFY YOUR SYMPHONY - SATURDAY, APRIL 12
The Strongsville City Schools Orchestra Directors are excited to announce another amazing performance experience for our string orchestra program on Saturday, April 12. Created by international recording artist, electric violinist, and music education advocate Mark Wood, EYS accomplishes this by having a team of teaching artists work with music students to put on real life, real world rock concert, with ticket sales directly benefiting the participating music departments. Tell your neighbors, family and friends about this awesome event being held in our Strongsville High School Auditorium on Saturday, April 12, with performances at 3:00pm & 7:00pm!
