RMS Monday Message
October 16th, 2023
Past the Halfway Mark of Quarter 1!
It is hard to believe, but we are already past the halfway mark of the first marking period. Progress Reports will be sent home in the coming days and now is a great time to evaluate how our students are doing academically to begin the new school year!
The link below will bring you to the Faculty and Staff Office Hour Times. This document is a good resource to use to schedule extra support in any classes that may be needed. It is best to either email or talk to the teacher prior to going to their scheduled office hour times so that they may gather any materials needed.

BCSD - All Six School Student Council Coat and Sneaker Drive- October 1-31
Please join all six of our schools as our student councils collaborate to collect coats for Dutchess Outreach’s annual coat drive. Coats should be clean and gently used. We are also collecting sneakers to be recycled or repurposed by gotsneakers.com. There will be drop boxes in all six buildings. At RMS, the Drop boxes will be located at the Kiosk!
Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month
An awesome opportunity from Cablevision/Univision!
This Hispanic Heritage month, we are asking students to think about how they stay connected with their communities. Opportunities to connect culturally with others occur each day, whether through media and entertainment, experiences, or relationships with people in your community.
In a 500 word or less essay, choose a person, group of people, or cultural experience (TV show, movie, music, app, event) that has helped you to connect to Hispanic culture and what that means to you.
*Grand Prize: $3,000 scholarship
*Prize for 3 Finalists: iPad
*Separate prizes for middle and high school categories in East and West Regions.
Listen to the announcements for an informational meeting if interested in writing an essay or see one of the World Language teachers.
*Children and household members of Altice USA employees are not eligible to apply
RMS Picture Re-Takes
Picture retakes will be October 25th. Students will be called down by their grade to the library. If they would like their pictures to be retaken, they need to bring the original pictures back and hand it to the photographer. If they were absent on picture day, they should come down when their grade is called and have their picture taken.

USAgain Bins!
It's that time of year for Fall Cleaning. If you find yourself wanting to donate clothes, shoes and other items, please consider using our USAgain donation bins. The RMS bins are located in the bus loop parking lot. The positives to using these bins are two-fold: for every bin that is full, USAgain plants 1 tree and two, some money gets raised for our RMS Environmental Club! See the picture below from the USAgain website for some ideas that you may consider donating!
RMS PTO Corner
The PTO is in full swing fundraising for so many great things!
Our spirit wear store is open now through 10/27. Spirit wear makes great holiday presents. Orders will be delivered to your student or you can notify us if it is a gift and we will make other delivery arrangements. Follow this link to place your orders today!
The Gertrude Hawk Chocolate fundraiser order forms should be returned by 11/3. You can also place orders online using the following link. Begin by adding a seller and use the organization code 718629. All students can participate in the fundraiser. Those students going on the DC or Boston trip can have the profit earned applied to their trip cost. The profit earned from 6th graders and those students not going on the DC or Boston will be donated to the district to be applied to the end of year trips for each grade.
There is still time to make a donation to the PTO to be entered into a raffle for a gift basket. The raffle basket drawing will be held at our meeting on 11/7/23. Make your donation online here or by venmo @DotDiNobile and add PTO donation in the memo.
Our Ride to School with the Bravest Raffle has begun which will benefit our DC and Boston Scholarship Fund. Raffle tickets are on sale for elementary school students to win a ride to school on a fire truck. Tickets are $5 each or 3 for $10 and can be downloaded from Romboutpto.org. Please help us spread the word. There will be one winner from each elementary school.
