Lutherville Families,

What a terrific close to another fantastic school year at Lutherville Lab!

If your child was not here on Tuesday, June 16th, a copy of their report card with grades from all 4 quarters is available for pickup in the office. It is also available online through the Parent Focus Portal.

Summer Office Hours

  • Summer Office hours at Lutherville Lab are 9:00am - 3:00pm on Monday - Thursday.
  • On Fridays the school is open virtually and we will be in touch to return calls and emails remotely.
  • We are closed on June 23rd for elections and July 3rd in observance of Independence Day.

Closure to SY 25-26
We had a wonderful Kindergarten Celebration, 5th Grade Farewell, and Volunteer Breakfast the second week of June to bring our year to a close. These are wonderful traditions book-ending the beginning of a Leopard's 6 years at Lutherville and the close to their career. And the volunteer breakfast is a great opportunity to say thank you, in partnership with the PTA, for the community support that makes it possible to offer such robust extra-curricular opportunities to our students -- over 20 events this school year! This is only possible because of community support. Please see the PTAs message below and consider how you might lend a hand at even one event this year so that we can continue such rich offerings to our kiddos.

On Monday we held our Farewell Faculty Luncheon and sent our best wishes to Jami Scott, Speech Language Pathologist, who was promoted to SLP Team Leader, and to Phylicia Conley, 5th grade teacher, who took a Math Specialist position with Baltimore City Schools. We also bid farewell to two retirees, Judy Henderson (Reading Specialist) and Denise Gillispie (Special Educator), who we gave a special "clap out" to on Tuesday afternoon after 38 and 30 years of service to our community, respectively.

Summer Opportunities

We hope our Leopards can indulge in the joy of reading good books this summer! And there's a lot of bonuses that can come with it! We're in summer reading competition once again with those Timonium Dolphins, and we want to keep that banner as Summer Reading Champs! Below is more on the competition.

There are also a number of great freebies kiddos can earn! There are programs at both Baltimore County Public Library for dino-prizes and TU football tickets and the Enoch Pratt Free Library for a t-shirt, toy, and sweet raffle prizes. Register at Barnes & Noble and you can read your way to a free book! And all the nostalgia is likely kicking in for parents as Pizza Hut's Book-IT program is back and is now joined by Panda Express's "Read with Me."

Let's win the summer, fill our bellies, get some prizes and a free book, all by reading this summer! Reading with Amira is also an option for rising 1st through 4th graders and directions are below.

Looking Ahead to SY 2026-2027

As we look ahead to next school year, we are grateful to be fully staffed with some new staff who will add to our Leopard Family!

As a reminder - we are collecting contributions for student school supplies. More information below. Please contribute as you are able so that we can collectively live into our "ALL IN" commitment to one another with "whole hearts." We will communicate again in July when the credit card option is available.

Opening day for students is August 31st. Class assignments will be available Mid-August. We will communicate the firm date when notified by the school system. The Welcome Back Letter will be mailed the first week of August, as usual.

Another good year in the books. I can't say enough just how grateful I am to serve this community alongside such an incredible group of educators, for such wonderful children.

Have a great summer, Leopard families!

In partnership,

-Mr. McComb

The BCPS Summer Food Service Program will begin on Wednesday, June 24, and continue weekdays through Friday, August 21 (with the exception of July 3, Independence Day observance). To reach as many children (ages 2-18) as possible, the Summer Food Service program, managed by the BCPS Office of Food and Nutrition Services, offers several ways for families to access free summer meals.

  • Organized program sites: Summer programs (including camps, day care centers, sports teams, and religious groups) can register to have free breakfast and/or lunch meals delivered to their sites in Baltimore County. Registration is required, and participating programs must serve at least 25 children per day. This service will be available from June 24 to August 21.
  • Summer Meals TO-GO: Families can register to pick up summer meals at Jacksonville or Kingsville elementary schools or Hereford High School. Each week, registered families can pick up boxes containing seven breakfast meals and seven lunches per child. This service will be available from June 25 to August 20.
  • Baltimore County Public Library branches: Fifteen branches of Baltimore County Public Library will serve free lunches each weekday, starting on June 24. These meals must be eaten on site. The list of participating branches and their mealtimes are listed online.
  • BCPS Summer School: All students attending summer school (July 6-30) will receive free breakfast and lunch each day. No registration is required for these meals.

More information is available on the BCPS Summer Food Service Program webpage.

SY 2026-2027 School Supplies SY 2026-2027 School Supplies

We are pleased to share that we are again working as a community to collectively supply all Lutherville Leopards for the 2026-2027 school year! Here are the basics. More background and details are in the attached letter:

  • The target amount remains $40.00 per student. Though it is a time of inflation, we are able to reuse some supplies (scissors, bins) and teachers have been discerning to trim where possible to keep this figure stable.
  • Starting now, families can deliver contributions in cash or check (made out to "Lutherville Lab PTA") to school for the PTA to collect. A credit card option will become available July 1st.
  • For families in a financial position to generously cover a classmate/neighbor unable to meet the target amount, giving above $40.00 is accepted with gratitude.

What a great year! Your involvement, generosity, and spirit are what make Lutherville Lab such a vibrant and supportive place for our students and staff and we’re happy that you’re part of it.

As we reflect on this school year, we are proud of all we accomplished together. We also welcome your ideas and support as we look ahead—please reach out to us at LuthervilleLabPTA@gmail.com to share feedback or let us know if you’re interested in volunteering for an event or ongoing effort. We really need your help!

This year, we introduced several new events that quickly became favorites, including our Back-to-School BBQ, which helped families and staff connect at the start of the year; a memorable Broadway outing to see Wicked in Baltimore; and our fun and engaging LEGO Night. We also launched meaningful new initiatives, including a Book Drive that ensured every child left the Book Fair with a book, and field trip financial support for all students across four grade levels.

At the same time, we were proud to bring back many beloved Lutherville Lab traditions, including Playground Pop-Ins, the Young Entrepreneur Initiative and Lutherville Community Entrepreneur Fair, the Book Fair, Heart for Hopkins, Food Truck Night, Spirit Nights, the Orioles game, and numerous opportunities to celebrate our outstanding faculty and staff.

A core focus of the PTA is supporting all students. This year:

  • Every student received a Lutherville Lab t-shirt
  • Every child went home from the Book Fair with a book
  • All students in four grades received financial support for field trips
  • We provided snacks and drinks during end-of-year testing to help students do their best work
  • All students benefited from rewards tied to our major fundraisers, Read-A-Thon and Roarin’ Run

We also partnered closely with the school on initiatives like the School Supply Fund Drive, ensuring every student starts the year prepared, and supported Yearbook efforts to capture lasting memories.

Finally, we made it a priority to celebrate and support our teachers and staff with meals, gifts, and funding for classroom enrichment, because their dedication is at the heart of everything we do.

The work of the PTA truly touches every single student and faculty member at Lutherville Lab. Thank you for supporting our efforts and helping us create a meaningful and inclusive experience for all.

As we look ahead, we welcome your continued involvement. Whether you can lend a hand at an event or take on a larger role, your time and talents make a difference. Please reach out at LuthervilleLabPTA@gmail.com with your ideas or to get involved.

With gratitude,

Your ’25-’26 PTA Executive Board
