Week of June 21

Dear Duval Families-

Happy last dispatch of the school year! We have loved learning, laughing, and having fun alongside our students this year. We hope you all enjoy a fantastic summer!

If you are wondering what our office hours are/when we are open over the summer, please visit the Duval calendar at: https://whd.whrsd.org/cms/One.aspx?portalId=18536876&pageId=18536896. We will keep this updated as the summer goes on. If you need information over the summer, the best way to reach us is via email.

Students' iReady End of Year data is ready for review. Our teachers have many ways to check your child’s reading and mathematics development and growth, including our District’s reading and mathematics screening tools. Please note, we are required by law to screen students in grades K-3.

Our district screens students K-8, using the following tools:

  • DIBELS 8th Edition for elementary students.

  • i-Ready Diagnostic in reading and mathematics for K-8 students.

Both of these assessments are approved by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Your child will be screened three times during the school year. Your child’s results from the screening can be accessed following these instructions:i-Ready Diagnostic Letter to Families 25-26.pdf. Please reach out to the main office if you have any questions!

As summer begins, we encourage all families to help prevent the "summer slide" by making reading part of your child's daily routine. Just 15–20 minutes of reading each day can help students maintain the skills they worked so hard to build this year. Enjoy your summer adventures, but don't take a vacation from learning—keep reading, exploring, and discovering together!

Have a wonderful week and summer vacation everyone!

Ms. Craig and Mrs. Salamone
