Lunenburg 300th Anniversary Design Contest Guidelines
Overview : The Lunenburg 300th Anniversary Committee invites designers, artists, and community members to participate in a design contest to create an official graphic or logo commemorating Lunenburg’s 300th Anniversary fast approaching in 2028. The selected design(s) will be used to celebrate this milestone across a variety of materials and platforms throughout the anniversary year.
Contest Purpose : The goal of this contest is to develop a distinctive, timeless, and versatile design that reflects Lunenburg’s history (incorporated in 1728), community spirit, and future. The design should be suitable for broad public use and adaptable across many formats.
Eligibility
Open to individuals of all ages.
Individual and group submissions are welcome.
Designers do not need to be residents of Lunenburg, but designs should reflect or respect the town’s character and heritage.
Each participant or team may submit up to two (2) entries.
Design Requirements
All submissions must meet the following criteria:
Theme & Content
Clearly celebrate Lunenburg’s 300th Anniversary.
Include the wording “Lunenburg 300”, “Lunenburg 300th Anniversary”, or similar clearly identifying the milestone.
Design should reflect Lunenburg’s identity, history, landmarks, or community values.
Avoid copyrighted imagery or elements not owned by the designer.
No AI artwork allowed
Format & Versatility
Design must work effectively in full color and black-and-white.
Design must remain clear and recognizable when scaled up or down (large print for posters, etc. but also work in a 3-4" diameter space).
Must be suitable for use across multiple applications, including but not limited to:
Print materials (posters, flyers, banners, signage and promotional materials)
Digital platforms (websites, social media)
Merchandise (shirts, hats, stickers, pins, cups)
Color & Style
No required color palette: designers may choose colors that reflect Lunenburg’s character.
Design should not rely solely on color to be understood. (i.e. still work in black and white)
Avoid overly intricate details that may not reproduce well at small sizes.
Submission Specifications
Submissions must be original, unpublished work.
Digital submissions are preferred in one or more of the following formats:
PDF
PNG
JPG
Please be sure images are high resolution so they can be converted to Vector files (AI, EPS, or SVG).
Include a brief written description explaining the design concept and inspiration.
Selection Criteria
Entries will be evaluated based on:
Creativity and originality
Relevance to Lunenburg and the 300th anniversary
Visual impact and clarity
Versatility and reproducibility in color and black-and-white
Overall design quality
Selection Process
The Lunenburg 300th Anniversary Committee will evaluate all submissions.
More than one design may be selected or used; a blend of more than one design may be end result.
Finalists may be asked to provide minor revisions.
The committee reserves the right not to select a winner if no submission meets the contest standards.
Rights & Usage
The winning design becomes the property of the Lunenburg 300th Anniversary Committee and the Town of Lunenburg.
The Committee and Town retains the right to reproduce, modify, and use the design for official anniversary-related purposes without additional compensation.
Designers retain the right to include the work in their personal portfolios.
