Principal's Weekly Update
Dear Cambridge Families & Community Members,
I hope you have all had a wonderful week! As I continue through the beginning of this school year, I have thoroughly enjoyed experiencing all of the many CES traditions for the first time. It is inspiring to see how deeply rooted our school culture and community connections are.
Today, four of our 6th-grade students joined me to serve lunch at the Cambridge Community Center. Their dedication to giving back and supporting our neighbors is a fantastic example of student leadership, service, and kindness in action. We are so proud of how our Wildcats represent CES in the broader community!
As we move through the school year, we continue to embrace our core values across all grades and activities: Work hard, stay kind, and be accepting. Thank you for your continued partnership, warm welcome, and support in making CES such a special place for our students to learn and grow.
Wishing you all a wonderful, relaxing three-day weekend! I hope you have a great time enjoying the fall with your friends and family.
Warmly,
Kim Lesny
Principal

Feeling the Winter Blues? You’re Not Alone.
Winter can feel heavy - shorter days, colder weather, less time outside, and changes in routine can affect mood and energy. It’s normal to notice shifts in how you’re feeling during this time of year.
Some signs to watch for include:
- Feeling more tired than usual
- Losing interest in things you usually enjoy
- Feeling down, irritable, or disconnected
- Sleeping more (or less) than usual
- Wanting to isolate or withdraw from others
If these feelings last more than a couple of weeks, or start to interfere with school, friendships, or daily life, it’s important to reach out. Talking with a trusted adult, school counselor, coach, or friend can make a real difference.
Small things can help too - staying connected, getting outside when possible, keeping a routine, and doing something kind for yourself or someone else. You don’t have to handle it alone.
