Wildcat Weekly- 5/11-5/15

Message from Principal Martinez 🐾
Dear Wildcat Families:
This week, we celebrated Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week. I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all of you for the incredible kindness, generosity, and support you have shown our staff.
Your thoughtful notes, treats, gifts, flowers, and words of encouragement have meant so much to our teachers and support staff. More importantly, your appreciation reminds our team that the work they do each day to care for, teach, and support your children is valued and recognized by our community.
Our staff works tirelessly to create a safe, positive, and engaging environment for every student, and your partnership and encouragement make a tremendous difference. The generosity shown this week reflects the strength and heart of our school community, and we are truly grateful.
Thank you for helping make our staff feel celebrated, appreciated, and supported. We are fortunate to serve such wonderful students and families.
Enjoy your weekend!
Continuing Registration is still open for the 2026-2027 school year!
We MUST receive a completed digital packet for all returning students. This will allow for proper placement of your student for the 2026-2027 school year. This annual digital process allows a family to complete one single “family” packet instead of completing one packet per student. Packets can be completed using any computer, tablet or smartphone with an internet connection.
New this year, we will also require a packet to be completed for all students LEAVING the district. This will be a quick process, but needs to be completed through the portal.
Continuing Registration Steps:
- Login and complete the digital registration packet via the online registration portal found here.
- Review and complete any required forms located at the conclusion of the process. A packet is not considered finalized until this step is completed.
Please note: MEDICATION FORMS or ADDITIONAL SIGNED SITE SPECIFIC FORMS WILL NOT BE COLLECTED UNTIL SCHOOL BEGINS IN AUGUST FOR THE 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR.

Fall 2026 ESS Interest Application Reminder
The Fall 2026 ESS Interest Application is now open and will remain open through June 7. All interested families may apply at any time during this initial application window. There is no advantage or disadvantage to applying earlier or later within this period, as all applications will be processed simultaneously.
Parents are encouraged to wait until their child’s enrollment has been completed by the school site and they have received access to their ParentVUE account before attempting to use the ESS Application Management System.
Families who apply during the initial application window will be notified on Monday, June 15th whether their student has been offered placement in the ESS program for the 2026–27 school year or has been placed on the waitlist.
If you have any questions regarding ESS enrollment, please email enrollment-ess@powayusd.com.

Highlights from this week...
“Gold Dust or Bust” was a hit! Our 4th graders struck gold with an amazing performance full of energy, teamwork, and Wildcat spirit!
Nurse’s Day surprise! Mrs. Diana is keeping things cool with her brand new ice maker — just what every school nurse needs!
Safety Patrol training is underway! Our amazing 5th graders are teaching next year’s 4th grade team the ropes and passing on their leadership skills.
The one where our Pomerado families totally spoiled the staff!
A huge THANK YOU to our amazing parent community for making Staff Appreciation Week feel like an episode straight out of Friends. From the thoughtful treats and decorations to all the little touches throughout the week, you reminded our staff that you’ll always be “there for us.”
Thanks for celebrating the incredible people who make Pomerado such a special place. Could this community BE any more amazing?
Principal for the Day
This Thursday we had a very special guest in charge, Mr. James Grajkowski served as our “Principal for the Day!” He jumped right into the role and had a busy (and very important) day running the school. James answered radio calls like a pro, helped supervise the playground, delivered morning announcements, and even fit in a working lunch with a friend to discuss the day’s “principal duties.”
He also made time to catch a bit of the 4th grade play, proving that even principals need a good performance break in their packed schedules!
James did a fantastic job leading with energy, responsibility, and a great attitude. We’re grateful for his leadership and the fun spirit he brought to our school day!
Friends-themed Staff Appreciation Week
"I'll be there for you..." is more than just a catchy theme song—it’s the reality of how our incredible teachers and staff show up for our students every single day. To celebrate the people who are always there for us, we are hosting a Friends-themed Staff Appreciation Week!
From the "Central Perk" coffee kicks to the Pivot-worthy hard work they do in the classrooms, our staff makes this school the best place to be.
🛋️ How Can You Help?
