Warhawk Family Newsletter
March 9th
From the Principal's Desk
Warhawk Families and Students,
As we enter Week 5 of Quarter 3, we are officially at a point in the school year when academic content becomes more rigorous. This is a critical time for students to stay focused, continue showing up every day, put forth their best effort, and reach out for help when they need it. Growth happens when we lean into challenges, and we are committed to supporting every student along the way.
Many families recently received a message from Mr. Bending regarding our Extended Learning Program (ELP). ELP provides students with additional academic support and enrichment opportunities. We strongly encourage students to take advantage of this resource—it can make a meaningful difference in understanding coursework and staying on track for success.
We also appreciate your support as we navigate this unusually cold Florida weather. Please remind students to dress warmly while still following our school dress code. We have seen an increase in hats being worn inside classrooms and blankets brought to campus, which are not permitted. Your partnership in reinforcing these expectations helps us maintain a safe, focused, and respectful learning environment for all.
Thank you for your continued support of our students and our school community. Together, we will keep our Warhawks SOARing.

Girls Wrestling
We’re excited to highlight that Girls Wrestling is now a growing sport in Pinellas County Schools, and this year marks an exciting milestone as we proudly field our very own team in competition. Last week, Emily Acker and Kaylen Klein represented the Warhawks at the Queen of Pinellas Tournament, part of a growing circuit of girls-only competitions in the region aimed at supporting the growth of female high school wrestling in Florida. We are proud to announce that Emily earned an impressive second-place finish, while Kaylen battled her way to a strong fourth-place finish. Congratulations to both athletes on an outstanding performance and for helping pave the way for girls wrestling!
Boys Basketball Seniors
We proudly recognize our Boys Basketball seniors—Lavant Burgess, Cardan Aguilera, Geridan Jones, and Jacob Wright—for their leadership and sportsmanship throughout their time with the program. These young men have set the standard on and off the court and leave behind a legacy of commitment and respect.

Their dedication and perseverance continue to set the standard for excellence. The excitement continues as Seminole High will host the Regional Quarterfinals in Warhawk Stadium. The Girls Soccer team will take the field on Thursday, February 5th at 7:00 p.m. against Robinson High School. Then, on Friday night at 7:00 p.m., our Boys Soccer team will host their Regional Quarterfinal matchup—also against Robinson High School. Building the Future Together
Last Friday, Principal Brown joined our student representatives from the School Construction Council to learn more about the progress of our ongoing campus construction project. The group received updates on current timelines and upcoming phases, then enjoyed an exclusive tour of the front building—future home of the Administration Team, School Counselors, and our College and Career Center—as well as the newly constructed cafeteria. Everyone was impressed by the modern design, open spaces, and abundant natural lighting that are shaping an inspiring future for our school community
School Counseling
National School Counselor Week
As we celebrate National School Counselor Week, we proudly honor our incredible School Counselors—Sarah Wood, Cheryl Plummer, and Kristina Pate. Through their unwavering support, compassion, and dedication, they play a vital role in guiding our Warhawks academically, socially, and emotionally. Whether helping them navigate challenges, plan for the future, or simply offering a listening ear, their impact is felt every single day within our Warhawk Nation hallways. Thank you, Ms., Wood, Mrs. Plummer and Mrs. Pate for being champions for our students.

Self-Reporting Systems
Say Something
Pinellas County Schools has partnered with Sandy Hook Promise to offer the Say Something Anonymous Reporting System. Say Something allows you to submit secure & anonymous safety concerns to help identify and intervene upon at-risk individuals BEFORE they hurt themselves or others. Tips made to the Say Something Anonymous Reporting System are passed along to the appropriate law enforcement agencies and school officials.
Fortify FL
Additionally, the district utilizes FortifyFL, a school-related suspicious activity reporting tool that allows Florida students and the community the ability to instantly relay information anonymously concerning unsafe, potentially harmful, dangerous, violent or criminal activities, or the threat of these activities, to the appropriate law enforcement agencies and school officials. FortifyFL was created and funded by the 2018 Florida Legislature as part of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act.
