Week of January 22, 2023 Week of January 22, 2023

Happy Sunday! It's that time of year again that we begin to project our PreK and Kindergarten needs for the 2023-2024 school year. In order to determine the number of PreK openings for next year, we need to know how many of our current students will be returning in September. Current Johnson students receive the first priority for placement.

Students attending WPS Kindergarten, Fall 2023, will have their enrollment information rolled over to the next school. If you are planning to have your child attend WPS Kindergarten please return the questionnaire that was sent home last week and we will roll over your child's information to the next school.

If you plan to have your child return to the Johnson Early Childhood Center, you must complete the questionnaire, sent home last week, and return it by Friday, January 27th, 2023. We will make every effort to honor your request.

For New PreK registration: If you would like to enroll a younger sibling of a current student:

  • Children must be 3 years of age by August 31st, 2023 and be a Weymouth Resident.

  • Go to the WPS website/Family tab/Registration to register the sibling in your existing Family Connection account. If your child has been referred for Special Education you will need to re-enroll, please do not “Register New Student” as this will create a duplicate account.

  • Complete all of the registration forms.

  • Call the school office to make an appointment to finish part 2 of the registration process and bring in all required forms including a $50, non-refundable, registration fee (cash or check only)

  • Once the registration process is completed you can select your child’s PreK Program.

If your child receives an educational program provided by WPS, as determined by the IEP, your child’s program will be determined by the Special Education Team, not by the office. Please indicate on the form, sent home, that your child has an IEP(Individual Educational Plan).

If you do not return the form by Friday, January 27th, 2023, your child’s name will be removed from next year’s PreK list (unless your child receives an IEP).

We are in the process of updating our website to have the most up to date accurate information for families, including a FAQ page.

If you have any further questions, please call the school office.

Health and Safety:

If your child is out for more than 3 consecutive days, you must have a doctor's note in order for your child to return to school. If you need to email Nurse Hilton her email is as follows:

bernadette.hilton@weymouthschools.org

In Massachusetts, the law requires every person riding in a passenger motor vehicle to wear a seat belt that is properly fastened and adjusted. Children are required to sit in a federally approved child passenger restraint. The child's seat should be suitable for their age and weight. Please make sure your children are properly buckled into their seatbelts before exiting the school driveway.
