Glenwood
This Week's Scouting Report
Thursday March 12, 2026
Good evening, Glenwood families,
March continues to move quickly. With the start of daylight saving time, the longer evenings are a welcome sign that spring is getting closer. Monday morning brought a few sleepy faces after the time change, but our students and staff quickly returned to their usual energy and enthusiasm.
The weather this month has certainly kept us guessing. One day brings temperatures near 80 degrees, and the next brings snow showers. It is a good reminder that while spring is around the corner, winter is still hanging on for now.
Thank you to the many parents who came out for spring conferences. Your participation and interest in your child’s progress makes a real difference. It is always encouraging to see the strong connection between our families and our school.
Glenwood continues to be a busy place filled with learning and fun. Please take a moment to review the highlights and upcoming events below.
Best,
Josh Rehak, Principal

RTMSD Inclusion Spirit Week
Next week, RTMSD will host its 1st district-wide "Inclusion Week." Each day's theme will remind students the importance of teamwork, inclusion, and kindness. Students will also write a diversity statement on a sock picture, decorate it, and cut it out. The socks will then be displayed together in the hallway on a clothesline (string, yarn, etc.) outside classrooms throughout the school signifying unity.
Come out and support Penncrest Boys Lacrosse on Thursday March 19th at 6 pm for their "All in for Inclusion" game vs. . Players from both teams will be rocking their inclusive socks for the game!
Monday March 16th: Super Hero Be a hero for inclusion
Tuesday March 17th: Bright Colors The future is bright when everyone is included
Wednesday March 18th: Sports Jersey Everyone does better when they are part of a team
Thursday March 19th: Pajama Day Be comfortable with inclusion
Friday March 20th: Rock Your Socks Wear your school spirit and rock your socks for inclusion

First Grade News
First graders have been practicing their CVC (consonant vowel consonant) real words and nonsense words by reading and sorting their CVC bubblegum into the correct bubblegum machines. Students also practice their new "Bossy R" sounds (-er, -ar, -ir) with fun games created by our Penncrest partners who visit on Monday and Wednesday mornings.
In math, first graders are telling time to the hour and half hour using their own clocks and the help of Eric Carle's The Grouchy Ladybug. Students also practice place value by using counting collections to group various items (crayons, blocks, pasta) into groups of tens and ones.
In Science, students are learning about the sun and shadows by using flashlights and paper gnomes to explore how moving the position of light makes shadows move.
First graders wrote thank you cards to the Springton Lake students who came to Glenwood to read to us to celebrate Read Across America and Glenwood's Read A Thon.
Glenwood Spotlight
JUST LIKE THE CHARACTERS
Each week we will highlight anyone who has exemplified qualities similar to our Philly mascots, possessing the following:
GRITTY (Flyers Ice Hockey) Resilient with a ‘never give up’ attitude
FRANKLIN (76er's Basketball): Loyal friend
SWOOP (Eagles Football): Strong and determined
NEVER GIVE UP
it takes determination, patience (and a great deal of balance)... students in Mr. Lehan's gym class worked together to create 'human' pyramids!

Break Room Remodel
The refreshed faculty lounge is finished! Huge thanks to everyone who donated items and helped make this happen—we truly couldn’t have done it without you. Special thanks to Middletown HVAC and Tori Sheridan - Realtor for your generous donations. And a big shoutout to the staff who helped us coordinate this project and everyone who jumped in to help clean, declutter, and decorate! The staff absolutely loved the updates and are so appreciative of all the support. It turned out great!
