Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease

Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD) is a common viral illness seen mostly in young children. It usually causes fever, sore throat, and small blisters or a rash on the hands, feet, and inside the mouth. The virus spreads easily through coughing, sneezing, or contact with saliva or contaminated surfaces.

Health officials, including the Illinois Department of Public Health, have reported a surge in HFMD cases statewide. The virus is highly contagious, we’re asking all families to be extra vigilant.

Prevention Tips:

• Encourage frequent handwashing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds

• Avoid sharing drinks, food, utensils, or personal items

• Disinfect frequently touched surfaces and toys

• Keep children home if they have fever, mouth sores, or cannot comfortably participate in school

Most children recover within 7 to 10 days. If you notice your child developing symptoms or have questions, please contact the nurse’s office for guidance.

🚨 The 30-day grace period for free and reduced lunch has ended. If your family has not been automatically approved through the state for SNAP/TANF or Medicaid, or if you have not submitted a new free/reduced lunch application in Skyward, your child’s status may have returned to “paid.”

To ensure your student receives the correct lunch benefits, please complete a lunch application in Skyward as soon as possible. 🚨

Breakfast/Lunch Funds can be added to your child's food account online via Skyward Family Access. Exact cash or check are accepted in the school office.

Breakfast $ 1.85 per day

Lunch $3.75 per day

Milk Only $.050

Free/Reduced Lunch Applications are available online via Skyward Family Access.
