National signing day at NOVA
NOVA has a long history of sending our club athletes out into the college swimming world. Wednesday November 8 is the first day our 12th grade student athletes can officially sign a national letter of intent (NLI)-declaring which university they have committed to for the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year. NOVA will be sending athletes to a wide variety of universities next year-stretching to all parts of the country.
NLI signing day is the culmination of a tremendous amount of work that each athlete has put into their sport. Not only the work they have put into the pool but also the work they have put into making a decision about where they want to spend the next four years of their life getting an education and swimming. The recruiting process can be both fun and stressful at the same time. NLI signing day is a day to celebrate all of their past accomplishments and future endeavors.
Good luck to the Class of 2024 as they take one step closer to the next stage of their
life! -Mike Wenert, NOVA Head SR Coach

How many swimmers are in AGDB? 78 swimmers
What skills are you working on this week? We are working on gliding in breaststroke, our LLRR turns, and working on effectively reading a practice. This week we are doing circuits and checking with the practice so everyone knows what's next.
Stephanie, what's you favorite part of working with AGDB? I love working with swimmers who are just starting their swimming journey. We have swimmers that have never been on a team before and watching them make new friends, learn new skills, and improve every day is amazing.
James, what's your favorite part of work with AGDB? The kids awesome energy and attitudes. They never cease to surprise me with their excitement.
Chris, what's your favorite part of work with AGDB? The rate of improvement of the swimmers. We have swimmers that have never swam on a team before and they improve quickly!
Stephanie, what's your favorite part about working with James? I love his perspective on the skills we are working on and how they relate to elite level swimming and his excitement and energy!
Chris, what's your favorite part about working with James? The back and forth banter!
James, what's your favorite part about working with Stephanie and Chris? We all offer unique perspectives on swimming as we are all at different stages of our careers. I enjoy the brainstorming and bouncing ideas off each other. It never gets stale!
Stephanie, what's your favorite part of working with Chris? listening to his memories of NOVA and watching all the hard work and learning he did in the pool come full circle to him teaching other swimmers in the same pool.
Chris, what's your favorite part about working with Stephanie? Getting to work with one of my old NOVA coaches...very full circle for me.
Chris who would win the 200 back? You or James? It all depends on if James gets his paddles...if he does he wins, if he doesn't its going to be pretty close!
James who would win the 200 back? You or Chris? I guess we'll have to race on Chris's last practice this Friday!
Chris, who's more likely to miss Masters practice? you or James? James...no question
James, who's more likely to miss Masters practice? you or Chris? Definitely me...but this is all part of the plan of course.
Chris, we know you are a former NOVA and Duke swimmer, where are you headed next? I'm heading to Newport, RI for Officer school and then on to Charleston for nuclear power school. After that I will be posted on a nuclear-powered submarine for the US Navy. Long story short: A Navy submarine with a couple of stops on the way!
Practice Performer Of the Week
13 and Over
Our 13 & over PPOW Anne Reagan Eakes from Senior Silver. Anne Reagan has increased her practice intensity and her focus to detail the last few weeks. She has been a leader in the pool and has been "grinding it out" day in and day out. Way to go Anne Reagan!
12 and Under
Our 12 & under PPOW is Charlie Williams from Age Group Silver. Charlie always comes to practice with a gigantic smile, always ready to work hard, and have fun while doing it! He always does what is asked in practice without reminder and shows true determination to grow as a swimmer, which earned him a move up to the 1st interval in AGS! Congrats Charlie!
