Dear Center Community,

This coming week is Social Emotional Learning Week. We are fortunate to be part of a community that values meeting the needs of the whole child, and goes the extra mile to provide social emotional learning and support! Our district utilizes the Second Step curriculum to provide SEL lessons to all students. We are well staffed with a full-time counselor, .8 school psychologist, .5 BCBA, a shared school social worker, a district director of SEL, and school resource officers that support our families. AND, of course we have great parent partners. Ms. Lallas shared some resources to help foster self-care with you child(ren).

Last chance to sign up for the Science Fair!

Click here: to register for the Science Fair and start planning your Science Fair projects! The Science Fair returns for all grades on Thursday, March 16 from 6:30-8:00pm.

Our extended day students had fun celebrating Dr. Seuss's birthday.

Reminder for 3rd grade parents:

If you have not yet done so, please send in a copy of your child's physical exam to the Center Health Office. A physical with a statement concerning physical restrictions completed in 2022 or 2023 is required. Thank you!

2023 Chelmsford Community Read-In Signup

The Chelmsford Community Read-In is making its return the week of March 13-17! The idea of the Community Read-In is to have readers who are members of the community visit classes for about 20 minutes to read a book or two to a class in grades pre-K through 4. This is a special visit for these classes because the message it sends the kids is that members of the community, not just their teachers and parents, care about their education and learning to love reading. This is a really special gift you can give to the children of Chelmsford!

Please indicate your availability and preferences below, and one of our coordinators will match you with a class email you with your classroom assignment.

We welcome parents as volunteer readers, but please be aware that you will not be placed in your child's classroom, in support of the idea behind the Community Read-In.

We hope that you can join us, and see just how rewarding reading to a class is!

MCAS Dates

Save the dates for MCAS, strategies for preparation (iReady) in the new year for grades 1-4

This year, students across the Commonwealth will be taking The Next- Generation MCAS for our annual standardized state testing. All students in Chelmsford will be taking the computer-based assessment using Chromebooks. Please mark your calendars for the important dates below. We strongly encourage all students to be present and on time these days. If your child is sick, we will have make-up sessions so that they are able to take the assessments when they are able to show their personal best work.

Chelmsford is fortunate to have access to iReady to support student learning. Students have access to this learning tool at home. Please reach out to your teacher if you have difficulty logging on. There is much research to support enhanced student achievement with use of this valuable tool. Please press the buttons below for more information.

Center School Report Card

The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) has published the 2022 district and school report cards. Every year, each public school and district in Massachusetts receives a report card from DESE. Just as your child’s report card shows how they are doing in different subjects, the school and district report cards are designed to show families how our schools and district are doing in different areas. The report card includes multiple measures of a school and district performance – more than just MCAS scores. It represents a new way of looking at school performance, by providing information on student achievement, teacher qualifications, student learning opportunities, and more. Click here.
