Message from the Principal Message from the Principal

Dear Sato Families,

Can you believe it's already mid November? As the season changes, I want to start by highlighting some key recognitions and initiatives here at Sato.

Last week was National School Psychologist Week, and we are incredibly proud to celebrate our very own school psychologist, Heather Birch! Heather was recently recognized as the Oregon School Psychologist of the Year. We are so fortunate to have her dedication and expertise supporting our students at Sato and the entire district. Thank you, Heather!

Beaverton School District has provided each school with a variety of shelf stable food to be distributed to families in need for the fall school break. Some of the foods include: pastas, beans, canned fruits/vegetables/meats, snacks such as granola bars. If your family would benefit from this, please come to Sato on Wednesday (11/19), Thursday (11/20), or Friday 11/21. If these times do not work for you or you need to arrange a weekend pickup or delivery, please click HERE.

Additionally, our community can still provide direct support through our Gift Card Drive. See the details below and on the SECO website for how you can donate. We are truly grateful for your ongoing support.

As we head into fall break, we want to wish everyone a restful and joyful week with family and friends.

This season is often connected to Thanksgiving—a holiday that means many different things to different people. While the history behind it is complex, it’s also a time to pause, reflect, and express gratitude.

At Sato, we can use this time to practice thankfulness & Gratitude for our community, our learning, and the people who make each day brighter.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Warmly,

Annie Pleau

Principal

Picture Perfect (or Perfectly Mismatched!)

Mark your calendars! Picture Retake Day is scheduled for Friday, Nov 21, and it happens to fall on the same day as our fun Mismatched Spirit Day!

If your student missed the original picture day, this is their chance to grab their annual school photo. The only question is: will they choose to capture their best look for the camera, or will they seize the opportunity to have the world's most wonderfully mismatched school portrait? 😉

Either way, come dressed and ready for your close-up!

November is Native American Heritage Month

What is Native American Heritage Month?

Native American Heritage Month is a time to acknowledge the important contributions of Native people and to celebrate their rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and histories.

Why do we celebrate it?

Heritage Month is an opportunity to learn about tribes, the unique challenges Native people have faced both historically and in the present, and the ways in which tribal citizens have worked to conquer these challenges.

Wrecking Ball-Ring Da Bell

The same VERY popular activity...with a new twist! The coach stands in the middle of 6 small bells, with a stuffed soccer ball attached to a rope. The kids are broken into 6 teams, scattered around the circle’s perimeter. The coach swings the ball around in a circle and one player at a time from each team must get under the ball and rope (without being hit)…ring their bell…and get back to their team. If they do so without being hit, the team gets a point. If they get hit on the way to ring their bell, they go back and another teammate tries. If they make it to the bell area, ring the bell, but get hit on the way back to their team, the point they earned does not count. Tons of movement head to toe: Running, ducking, crawling, rolling, thinking, chance taking…AND A LOT OF FUN!!!
