As winter’s chill begins to retreat and the first whispers of spring emerge, March is traditionally a month of transition—where the last traces of winter give way to spring’s vibrant awakening.

We are excited to share our March newsletter packed with insights, updates, and inspiration, promising a transformative period of growth, renewal, and exciting opportunities.

With AI is changing so fast, our district AI resources are updated regularly to give you the latest info! These updates will help you use AI tools effectively and ethically in your classroom, ensuring we are getting the most out of these new technologies while maintaining a focus on strong learning outcomes, while also complying with the Terms of Service for each resource. With this being said, there have been some changes with some of the Tools & Resources on the AI Dashboard.

We are excited to announce that we are the FIRST district in North Carolina to enable the AI Generated Assessment feature in Discovery Education! A few weeks ago our Media Coordinators, Instructional Coaches, and District Leaders attended a virtual training to explore this amazing new feature of Discovery Education and now we are excited to share it with you all!

In the Fall, Discovery Education launched the AI Generated Assessment Feature as part of its Experience platform, revolutionizing the way educators create assessments. This innovative tool allows teachers to generate customized assessments quickly and efficiently, utilizing Discovery Education's extensive library of trusted content. With the ability to tailor assessments to specific reading levels, question types, and Bloom's Taxonomy, educators can ensure that their evaluations are both relevant and effective in meeting learning objectives.

This feature not only saves valuable time by simplifying the assessment creation process but also aligns with state standards to ensure comprehensive coverage of educational goals. By seamlessly integrating with Discovery Education's content, this tool empowers teachers to deliver engaging and differentiated instruction while allowing them to focus more on student interaction and less on administrative tasks.

We will have Office Hours with Discovery Education coming on Monday, March 24 for questions about using this platform! We will send out more information next week!

In mid-February, the NCPDI Office of Digital Teaching and Learning released that Schoolnet now includes fully integrated Desmos Calculator within Item and Test Creation!! 🥳

All existing calculators remain available, and you can enable them in test settings or for individual questions. To update past assessments, create a copy and adjust the calculator settings accordingly.

As you are beginning to look towards EOY Reviews, Eduaide offers several options for Game-Based Learning. Some of the options include: Bingo, Jeopardy, Battleship, and even Escape Rooms!

March's Schoolnet Webinar is on "Using Schoolnet as a Performance Based Assessment Tool." This session is for teachers who teach non-core subjects (music, art, health, etc...). During this session they will cover how to create your own questions or how you can use Schoolnet as a performance based assessment within the classroom.

Scheduled for March 28, 2025, this event aims to explore the question, "What is AI?" and its role in shaping the modern world.
