He only had one pupil!

Happy Halloween, Sabercats! There was so much joy around CV today. We had an abundance of spooky and silly costumes from staff and students alike, and Mr. Stach spent all day exploding pumpkins for science! I hope you all have a fun and whimsical weekend. Stay safe, cool cats!

With Gratitude,

Tickets are on sale now for CV’s fall musical, Mean Girls.

Tuesday, November 10th - Saturday, November 14th

7:00 PM Each Night + a 1 PM Saturday Matinee

Mean Girls is the high-energy, "fetch" musical phenomenon that proves high school is a literal jungle. When Cady Heron moves from the African savanna to suburban Illinois, she quickly learns that the apex predators aren’t lions, they’re The Plastics. Led by the diamond-hard Regina George, this trio of queen bees rules North Shore High with a mix of glitter and gossip that will leave you breathless. With a powerhouse pop-rock score and a razor-sharp script by Tina Fey, the show brilliantly balances hilarious nostalgia with a modern heart. Grab your seat and prepare for a riotous, high-stakes lesson in popularity, friendship, and the consequences of the "Burn Book." Just remember: we wear pink, and you definitely can't sit with anyone else until you've seen this show!

This show is Rated PG-13 for adult language, teen drinking, and mature topics.

How will my school benefit?

The Douglas County School District Board of Education recently voted unanimously to place a $54 million Mill Levy Override (MLO) on the November ballot. If passed by voters, this is how the additional funds would be invested in our school.

Mill Levy Override Dollars

  • Increase teacher and staff pay by providing salaries that are more competitive with neighboring school districts
  • Increase and maintain school security support, including school resource officers
  • Reduce student waitlists for Career and Technical Education programming, including the trades
  • Restore student programming such as instrumental music in elementary schools

Visit funding.dcsdk12.org to learn more about the MLO or explore the Douglas County Bond Map to see how funds like these contribute to our neighborhood schools.

Show Up

Talyn Haddad: Talyn is always engaged in learning, a leader in helping others in the classroom, and has been extremely inclusive in partner and group settings. I appreciate having him in my class as he is a role model for other students.

Lacie Heath: Lacie has stepped up to become a really active participant in class over the last couple weeks, sharing her opinions confidently. She does a great job in small group discussion, keeping conversation moving and she takes meticulous notes and is a careful and detailed writer.

Alyson DeLuca: Alyson SHOWS UP like a champion. In class she’s always engaged and she’s a model student. She takes care of others within the class, and she takes great care of the classroom itself; showing a great respect for the CVHS community. She’s responsible, she’s courteous, she’s witty, and she’s the epitome of what a Sabercat should be. Nicely done, Aly!

Luke Kinne: Luke is always ready and prepared for class. He is a hard worker with a positive attitude and always willing to lend a helping hand.

Parker Swanson and Alexis Cheney: Parker and Alexis come to math class everyday with a positive attitude and ready to learn. They are engaged in our activities and ask great questions. They both are kind and helpful to their classmates. I appreciate you two very much!

Nathan Crouch: Nathan has shown up for German class and German Honor Society/Club for the last 4 years! Nathan is dedicated to learning more about the German language and culture every year. I appreciate his positive attitude, sense of humor, and hard work. He shows up in the classroom, to all of our German events, and is always willing to help! Danke, Nathan!

Amy Cheledlin: Amy shows up every day for our students and co-workers in SSN. She is so thoughtful and always willing to take on additional responsibilities such as getting her bus certificate so she can take students off sight for shopping field trips.

Dean Tallmadge: Dean Tallmage SHOWS UP at CVHS. He has taken it upon himself to get to know our students and staff. He's a positive presence in the hallways, always taking time to check in with students, give a fist bump, and ask how he can help. As CV's newest -- and greatest -- morning DJ, he starts our mornings with good tunes and good vibes. We love having him at CVHS!

Dean Morgan: Dean Morgan has been a great addition to the CVHS Admin Team! He communicates clearly and works to ensure consistency in our building. He's responsive to the needs to students and teachers, and works quickly and efficiently to solve problems. We appreciate the work he does to make CV a great place!

Amanda Wilson: Amanda is a very kind, resourceful teacher who is always there for her students. She is always advocating for the students of CV and the students in her class tell me all the time how much they appreciate her and her attitude about her subject, class, and teaching! But even more, she really is a person you can go to when your day is not going well and she is a good shoulder to cry on or ear to listen!

Kate Standerfer: For being helpful as a neighbor and making sure that the MET Academy meeting could start on time this past week, even though she's in AOS. She also has found ways of honoring her students learning as they read and grow in their learning without everything being based on points.

Lindsey Litherland: Lindsey has been a fantastic leader and member of the counseling department this year. She has be fully present in meetings, in celebrations, and in support of what we do every day. We are so lucky to have her as a part of our team! Thanks for SHOWING UP!

Show Out

Reef Toups: Reef stayed after seminar to help put chairs back in my room that everyone had left scattered around the room. I really appreciate him taking the time to set the room right and rep his CV pride by going above and beyond to keep our shared space clean.

Kenna Delgado: Kenna stood up to take on leadership for a big charity drive CV is about to do in collaboration with CRMS and Sedalia elementary school. She's done a great job creating timelines in collaboration with adults in three different buildings as well as peers she's teamed up with to do this.

Riley Oberly: Riley always "shows out" in math class by being a leader of learning. She goes above and beyond to do her best work every day AND help others who might be struggling. Keep being awesomely you!

Kali Rainville: Kali challenged herself to move UP from on-level US Government to AP Government in the middle of a semester. It is an incredible celebration when students take it upon themselves to level up!

Chase Dowis: Chase is truly a thoughtful political and ideological mind. He makes every conversation better in class.

Tyler Gonzales: Ty makes everyone in his US Government class think more deeply about our own viewpoints, ethics, and morals. He is an essential part of the learning process who challenges the status quo and institutional power. He's a thought trailblazer, for sure.

Troy Tallmadge: Troy definitely SHOWS OUT every. single. day! He is not afraid to be true to who he is and proudly reps his Sabercat pride. We are so lucky that Troy chose CV as his home!

Show Down

Brianna Reasoner: Brianna is always on top of things. She chooses to do her best all the time.

Vaughn Peterson: Vaughn has been willing to speak up in class, has locked in on content, and has been a great role model for his peers in Humanities.

Annika Lundmark: Annika really shows her Sabercat pride by being a leader. She has helped to lead the fall blood drive and worked to get kids to set up, clean up, and donate. She has been working to get NHS members to tutor students in the building. She has also been a positive force with staff and students. We are proud of her as she strives for excellence as she SHOWS DOWN as a Sabercat.

Jess Hunziker: CV Student Media has absolutely taken off in the last year, and so much of that has to do with Jess Hunziker's thoughtful planning. Our program has been excellent for nearly two decades, but with the massive growth of CVTV, there was some concern that it could not maintain its spectacular product. As it turns out, the product has only gotten better.

Frank Martin: CVTV and Film I are a force to be reckoned with right now, and that's do to excellent leadership and vision at the top! Way to go, Frank!
