Dear Lake Forest Community High School:

Last evening, at our regular meeting of the Lake Forest Community High School District 115 Board of Education, our District 115 team presented additional metrics that will be used to measure progress on our Strategic Plan. These metrics are aligned with our goals and objectives and explained in the Appendix to the District 115 2023-2028 Strategic Plan, linked below.

Anytime we define quantitative metrics to measure a qualitative entity - that is, the success of our students and our education system - there are inherent limits. We acknowledge and appreciate that our students and their experiences are more complex than any collection of data points.

Still, it is important that we harness the power of data to establish an understanding of how well our strategies are working to meet the goals and objectives outlined in our strategic plan. There is a saying, “What gets measured, gets done.” Our vision for the future is ambitious. Establishing a set of metrics to track our progress is an essential step toward making our vision a reality.

I want to thank our families, staff, and community members who have participated throughout this process. Your feedback, shared experiences, and ideas have been woven throughout each stage to establish shared goals and begin implementing our work. Your continued support and engagement will be essential.

If you are curious about any part of our plan or the metrics we are employing, please reach out. Your partnership and understanding of our measurements matter to me. There is nothing more important to me than ensuring LFHS continues to be a place of learning, development, and transformation for our students. I look forward to continuing this journey with you and our students.

Sincerely,

Riders must dismount and walk their devices within the Central Business District boundaries. Violators will be fined $100-300 per offense. The Lake Forest Police Department is issuing warnings this fall as a courtesy, while people adjust to the new regulation. Officers will begin issuing tickets in spring 2024. Learn more.

Did You Know?

Since 2002, 15% of LFHS Foundation grants have been awarded toward wellness and student support. Grants to the wellness department ensure student access to specialized equipment that enhances the learning experiences in a wide array of course offerings. In 2020, we provided new lifeguard equipment and AED Trainers to support the popular lifeguarding course. In 1990-91, before the LFHS Foundation existed, the climbing wall was installed. In 2018, 2021, and 2023 grants to provide additional hand holds, harnesses, hardware, volumes, and a new landing mat were awarded to further enrich the skill development potential, access, and safety of this curricular resource. These four grants represent a $25,000 investment in educational excellence. Learn more about recent wellness grants in our Spotlight on Grants newsletter, https://conta.cc/3pD2WTH.
