Calendar - First two Months
Football Friday night guidelines for elementary and middle school families
If you plan to cheer on your Golden Bears this season, please keep in mind the following important rules. These expectations will be enforced throughout the football season in order to create a positive and enjoyable environment for Golden Bear fans of all ages.
If you choose to participate in a tailgate, please be aware that state law prohibits the possession or use of alcohol or controlled substances on school grounds or at school-related events. This includes any school parking lot.
If you have a young fan in your family, please remember that elementary and middle school students must be accompanied by a supervising adult throughout the entirety of the game. These students should sit in the stands during the game unless they are using the restroom or waiting in line at the concession stands. There should be no loitering at the concession stands, restrooms or under the bleachers.
Footballs and other sports equipment are not allowed at the game and will be confiscated. Students should not throw these or other items, spit or touch each other.
Elementary and middle school students are not permitted on the field after the game until the visiting team is off the turf and the alma mater has concluded.
Students must leave the stadium within 20 minutes of the conclusion of the game.
Finally, the turf practice fields will be off limits during and after varsity football home games.
If a student is not able to meet these expectations during the game, a parent or guardian will be contacted to pick up the student immediately.
Announcing Greensview 4th and 5th Grade Choir!
Do you love to sing? Do you want to make great music with your friends?
Consider joining the Greensview 4th and 5th Grade Choir!
Rehearsals begin Tuesday, September 15.
Participation in the Greensview Choir is optional, but requires a commitment to attend each rehearsal unless a student is absent from school. Our choir rehearses on D-Days during recess, from 11:30-11:55. Students are then dismissed to the lunchroom for their full lunchtime.
NOTE: This year, D-Day rehearsals fall on several Tuesdays, meaning students must choose between the extracurriculars of Greensview Choir and Lifewise. It will not be possible to do both activities this year.
Mark your calendars for our required performances now!
Winter Concert on Thursday, December 3 @ 7:00 PM
Spring Concert on Tuesday, March 9 @ 7:00 PM
In addition to these concerts, we will have several Pop-Up Choir opportunities. Pop-Up Choirs are not required performances, but give our students the chance to share their musical gifts out in the community. In the past, we have performed at Board of Education meetings, Greensview’s Multicultural Night, the Coventry Senior Living Facility, Upper Arlington’s Winter Festival and more! I will communicate Pop-Up Choir dates later this fall.

Safety Patrol - 4th and 5th grade Parents
Dear 4th and 5th Grade Parents,
As part of our commitment to student service and leadership, we invite 4th- and 5th-grade students to consider joining Safety Patrol. This program is a wonderful way for students to contribute to our school while developing responsibility and confidence. It also directly supports the Upper Arlington Schools’ vision to help students Serve, Lead, and Succeed.
Mr. Diehl and I will once again serve as the Safety Patrol Advisors. All members will receive training, and we will meet regularly throughout the year to address needs, celebrate successes, and recognize timely and responsible patrol members. Over the years, we have seen Safety Patrol positively impact students’ confidence and leadership skills. In fact, many of our bus riders have even arranged alternate transportation on their patrol days because they are so committed to this role. Last year, we were thrilled to have more than 100 students participate!
If your child is interested, please complete the Availability & Permission Form by Friday, September 11. Completing the permission section indicates your approval for your child to participate.
The final schedule will depend on the number of students who sign up and the availability provided on the form. Last year, with such a strong response, each student served approximately one shift per week. We will send home the final schedule as soon as possible.
Thank you for supporting and encouraging your child to take on this meaningful responsibility. We look forward to another safe and successful school year with Safety Patrol leading the way!
Sincerely,
Mr. Diehl
Mr. Wulf
Safety Patrol Advisors
We still need a handful of families to pay the PTO for their school supplies
The district asked Greensview's PTO to order school supplies in bulk for ALL Greensview students! No more searching store after store for a certain color folder or buying a 5-pack of glue sticks when you only need one! For the discounted price of $25 per student, school supplies (except iPad accessories) are ordered in bulk and delivered right to your child’s classroom in time for the first day. In addition to the tremendous cost savings to Greensview families, this process helps create equity among our students and ensures everyone has just what they need to kick off the school year. Additional information will go out with teacher assignments on how to pay for your student's 2026-27 supplies.
Important Transportation Reminder
To help our bus drivers become familiar with their assigned students, establish consistent routines, and complete required seating charts, students must ride only their assigned bus during the beginning of the school year.
Beginning Monday, August 31, 2026, through Friday, October 9, 2026, no additional students will be permitted to ride a bus other than the one to which they are assigned. We will not be able to accommodate “riding home with a friend”
The only exception is for a regular sitter or childcare arrangement that has been approved in advance by Transportation and communicated to the school.
This restriction will remain in place through our official student count week, October 5–9, 2026. After count week has concluded, regular transportation procedures regarding riding home with another student may resume.
Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us keep transportation safe, organized, and consistent for all students.
Spirit Wear Site Now Open!
New year, new gear! Support the PTO and stock up on new Greensview and UA spirit wear. Online orders can be picked up at the school or sent home with your student. Check out our site to order: https://school-spirit-wear-greensview.cheddarup.com
Building tour opportunities
On November 3, residents will vote on a combined operating levy and bond issue that would maintain the district’s current educational programming and fund the second phase of the facilities master plan, which calls for rebuilding Hastings Middle School and Burbank Early Childhood School as well as renovating and rebuilding Jones Middle School.
As residents consider Issue 7, we are providing opportunities to get a first-hand look inside each of these schools. All three buildings will be open on Wednesday, September 23 and Thursday October 8, with tours beginning at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.
To learn more about the building tours or Issue 7, please click here.
Profile of an Engaged Learner Survey (Panorama platform)
The fall survey window is September 21st - October 2nd. The district office will email parents/caregivers links to survey questions and to topic alignment with our Profile of an Engaged Learner. Families will also receive the link to opt their student(s) out of the survey if they so choose. The opt-out form will accept responses through September 17th.
Don't Forget PE Shoes!
A quick reminder to check your child’s schedule for physical education (PE) days. Please ensure they wear sneakers or athletic shoes on those days. Safe footwear prevents slips, protects toes, and allows your student to fully participate in all the fun, active games. Thank you for helping keep our kids safe and moving!
Back to School Information for Families
It’s time to start getting ready for the 2026-2027 school year! Here’s what you need to know now to be ready for August!
Back-to-school forms (K-12) — available late July: Families of returning students will receive information in late July in order to complete back-to-school forms in PowerSchool. Families will need to complete the forms prior to the first day of the school year.
Back-to-school fees (K-12) — available late July: Families of new and returning students can log in to PaySchools Central in late July to pay any fees associated with their students and put funds on their lunch accounts. The student fee schedule approved by the Board of Education reflects the elimination of all student class and course fees for the 2026-2027 school year. The annual fees for the 2026-2027 school year include:
The optional Technology Protection Plan fee ($25) for students in grades K-12
Athletic fees at the middle school and high school levels
Student parking fees at the high school
Families wishing to purchase the optional Technology Protection Plan must complete the technology forms in PowerSchool AND pay the $25 fee in PaySchools Central before the first day of school for the 2026-2027 school year (August 12, 2026).
New Attendance Policy for 2026-2027
Based on changes in Ohio law and Upper Arlington Schools Board of Education policy, new attendance requirements will be in effect beginning with the 2026-2027 school year. These changes affect how schools track student attendance, when families receive notifications, and when districts must intervene to address attendance concerns.
The biggest change is that all missed time is counted — includes tardies, medical absences, pre-planned absences, non-school-sponsored activities and competitions, and Religious Expression days — toward chronic absenteeism. Parents/guardians may find information about the changes in attendance policy on our website.
Religious Expression Days
State law does allow a student’s parent or guardian to request up to three religious expression days for each school year without any academic penalty. Religious expression days may be used to take holidays for reasons of faith or religious or spiritual belief system or participate in organized activities conducted under the auspices of a religious denomination, church, or other religious or spiritual organization.
Parents/guardians must submit this form within the 14 school days after the start of the school year (September 1, 2026) to request up to three religious expression days for the 2026-2027 school year. Requests received after 14 days from the start of the school year will not be approved. For additional information, visit our website.
Vision and Hearing Screenings
The Ohio Department of Health requires vision and hearing screenings for children in kindergarten, first, third, fifth grade, and all students new to the district each year. These screenings will be done starting in September. Screenings can also be performed at various other times during the year at parent or teacher request. Should you wish to opt your student out of vision and hearing screenings this year, please complete and return this form to us: Vision and Hearing Screening Waiver. Students who have difficulty with the initial screening are re-screened. If there still appears to be a difficulty, parents are notified, and follow-up by a health care provider is suggested.
Looking for a flexible way to join the Upper Arlington Schools team? 🍎
We’re hiring part-time and substitute food service workers, and educational aides to support our school cafeterias, classrooms and playgrounds— and these roles fall within the school day schedule,
making them a great fit for anyone looking to work while students are in school.
You’ll be part of a friendly, team-oriented environment that helps fuel our students' learning every day.
Please check the www.uaschools.org for employment opportunities
Dogs on School Property: Safety Reminder
While we know many students enjoy seeing their furry friends, dogs are not permitted on school property at any time, including during arrival and dismissal. This policy is in place to ensure the safety and comfort of all students and staff.
If you're walking your dog to school for pick-up or drop-off, please wait on the perimeter sidewalks off school grounds. Your child can meet you there at the designated dismissal area.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our school environment safe for everyone!
