What's Happening in P.E.?
After the first few weeks of team building games we have started to branch out into sport specific skills.
K-2 has been active and building fitness through our movement warmups. Building up endurance and learning about pacing for our Fun Run Nov 4th. All students have been working on throwing and catching as well as kicking skills. After practicing with friends we put their new skills into action with team games. We are mirroring the skills being used in grades 3-5; speedball, soccer, football.
Grades 3-5 continue to build fitness in our warm up using interval training. 4 sets of a 30 second jog followed by an exercise. i.e. Squats, pushups, planks, lunges, sit-ups - starting with lower numbers to build up through the school year.
As mentioned above we worked on the technique of throwing and catching a football, with a game of 'freeze frame' football as a progression to flag football. Introduced the game of speedball, a combination of soccer and handball. Building team concepts of getting open, hands up for a pass and advancing the ball down the field.
Reminder PLEASE be aware of footwear for PE days. Crocs, hey dudes, sandals and uggs are not the best for PE. We have a lot of crocs that are flying off and causing rolled ankles. “Sport mode” is not a real thing!
Any questions please do not hesitate to reach out.
Thank You,
Mr. Gilbert

Once Upon A Mattress
Once Upon a Mattress is an incredibly popular show that has been on Broadway three times since its inception. A quirky take on The Princess and the Pea, it has delighted theater goers of all ages for decades.
Many moons ago in a far-off place, Queen Aggravain decreed no couples could marry until her son, Prince Dauntless, found a bride. Princesses came from far and wide to win the hand of the prince, but none could pass the impossible tests given to them by the Queen. That is, until the “shy” swamp princess, Winnifred the Woebegone, showed up. Would she be able to pass the Sensitivity Test, marry her prince and help Lady Larken and Sir Harry to the altar? Carried on a wave of wonderful songs, by turns hilarious and raucous, romantic and melodic, this rollicking spin on the classic tale The Princess and the Pea provides some side-splitting shenanigans.
Suitable for all audiences. Run time is 2.5 hours, which includes a 15 minute intermission.
Tickets are $15 at Tickets - Norwell Arts or at the door.
