The Ram Review
Northbridge Middle School Newsletter
I hope you had a great week. We certainly had a lot of fun this week with our Halloween decorating contest! In case you haven't seen it, I am including the link to the spectrum news segment from Friday. I wish you could have seen the way our students and staff worked together to create some amazing decorations.

As we get ready to start the second quarter our school is going to have a strong focus on the social/emotional needs of our students, and continue to build our school community. I think everyone has seen the challenges schools face not only in Massachusetts, but across the country. We are proud of the work our staff and admin team continue to do every day to help our students. At NMS, we want ALL students to feel connected to our school. As a result, we have started many new programs and clubs. The student advisory club, which is open to every student, gives them a voice in the decisions that take place throughout the school year. In addition, our student voice committee will start in December. This is a committee made up of administrators, adjustment counselors, and teachers to listen to student concerns and work together to solve issues that may arise during the school year. Our band and chorus continues to grow, thanks to Mr. Goguen and Mr. Melo. This year we were able to offer Spanish to all 8th grade students and provide a world culture class to students in grades 6 and 7. Ms. Wildfeuer and our staff have reinstituted the community closet for families in need. Our clubs are in full swing, and will include gaming, ski club, art club, culture club, broadcast club, wii club, and girls who code. Additionally, we have our student council and have started the national junior honor society. Of course, I didn't forget our strong sports programs in Northbridge.
With all the positives happening at NMS, we still need all of you! Not only do we want all our students involved in our school, but we want ALL families to feel welcome and to have a voice in our school. Thank you to the school council parent members, coaches, and off course, our parent army! But we're not done yet! We have two new ideas for our families, which I will include in this email. First, I am including a survey to see if you would like to join us for an informal parent meeting off school grounds instead of a virtual parent meeting. Second, I am inviting all of you to be a part of the message to our students this week. Our message is, "Be a Light". I will include the song and lyrics in this newsletter.
As always, please reach out with any question or concerns. Have a great week everyone.

Parent Meeting
Yes, I found an old picture from when I had hair. Our admin and adjustment counselors would like to invite everyone to an informal parent meeting Monday November 22, or Tuesday November 23 at 6:30. If we have enough interest this would take the place of our virtual parent meeting. We will provide desserts and refreshments for all! This is a great opportunity for all of us to discuss issues and answer questions in a community setting. Please take a moment to fill out the survey below. If we do not have enough interest we will schedule a virtual parent meeting.
