Nike Weekly Scout Report

Good afternoon Nike families,

Tomorrow Nike is participating in the United Way Spirit Day. For $1, your child can bring in a stuffed animal. Money will be collected in the foyer, before students go to class.

Nike's fundraiser is in full swing. Tomorrow, Friday Sept. 12th will be another ticket collection day. Please see below some pictures from yesterday's chicken prize patrol.

Students had fun Friday afternoon when Dr. Tollison stopped by classrooms for a quick, fun brain break dance. There were lots of giggles as students and staff did the chicken dance. Enjoy two classroom videos below.

Patriot Day was quite the success at Nike Elementary today! Fourth grade students led a school-wide ceremony where the Pledge of Allegiance and the Scout Pledge was recited by all in attendance. Students listened to members of the Pacific Fire District, the Meramec Ambulance District, Washington Police Department, and the Franklin County Sheriff's Department. The first responders shared some of their special equipment and some interesting things about their careers. Some students were even given the opportunity to try on some of the gear!

Nike has an active Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). The organization has traditionally sponsored activities such as Movie Night, Breakfast with Santa, Trivia Night, and fundraisers to support the school. This year we are planning to hold similar events.

This year we are so excited to launch the Beanstack App. This is a fun way for students to track what they're reading each day at school and at home as well. Students simply take a book, scan the store bar code, and set the timer. What's really great about this app is the immediate feedback on a job well done by earning digital badges. This app is FREE for MVR-3 families and easy to download on any device. Directions for how to set up the account from home was sent out on ROOMS.
