Welcome Back, Douglas!
Dear Douglas Public Schools Families, Students, Staff, and Community Members:
As summer comes to a close, I am thrilled to welcome our students, families, staff, and community back for another exciting school year in Douglas Public Schools.
There is something truly special about the start of a new school year. After a quiet summer, our schools once again come alive with the energy, excitement, and laughter of students filling our classrooms and hallways. Watching our teachers welcome students, reconnecting with familiar faces, and meeting those who are joining us for the first time is one of the most rewarding parts of this job.
I hope everyone had an opportunity to enjoy time with family and friends this summer and is returning refreshed and ready for the year ahead. Whether you are entering school for the very first time, moving up to a new grade, beginning your senior year, or joining our Douglas family as a new student or staff member, know that you are an important part of our school community.
Our educators and staff have been hard at work preparing for another outstanding year of learning, growth, and opportunity. Their commitment to our students is what makes Douglas Public Schools such a special place, and I am grateful for everything they do each day to support student success.
To our families and community members, thank you for your continued partnership and support. Together, we create an environment where every student can learn, grow, and thrive.

After Middle School...
It can be a major decision whether your student is deciding to attend a vocational school or traditional high school after Middle School. For students trying to decide between these two educational paths, the choice often comes down to your skills, interests, and what you want to do after graduating. Please take a look at what the Douglas High School has to offer.

SEPAC
The Douglas SEPAC strives to promote communication and programs within the community to encourage greater understanding, acceptance, and inclusion of children with disabilities and to encourage an atmosphere of mutual respect among all students, families, school staff, and the community at large.

The foundational role of a SEPAC is to work in partnership with the school on matters of special education.
What Do We Do?
- Collaborate with administrators and the school committee on special education programming and policies within the Douglas Public Schools district.
- Provide resources, workshops, and information on events related to special education and other relevant topics.
- Promote a network for parents of children with disabilities and provide a forum to share information and discuss matters of relative interest and concern regarding our children.

The Douglas School Committee's Values & Beliefs
In July, the School Committee, members of the leadership team, and representatives from the DTA and DESPA came together to help develop the School Committee’s value and belief statements. We prioritized the following areas: academic excellence, social and emotional well-being, professional culture, family and community engagement, operations, and fiscal responsibility.
Through our work, we developed value and belief statements for each of these focus areas, along with action steps to guide progress toward our objectives. Over the course of the school year, we will concentrate on many of these steps to help move the district forward and ensure student success. While these action items will take more than a year to fully accomplish, they will serve as a roadmap for our ongoing work.
I am grateful to the members of the School Committee, the leadership team, and our educators who dedicated time during the summer to participate in this effort. It was a thoughtful, engaging, and collaborative process that reflects our shared commitment to the success of every student.
