Hello North Rockland Families,

Our students are hitting all the right notes as the winter concert season gets underway this week! The Winter Concert series will continue in the coming weeks, leading up to Holiday Recess, December 22 through January 2. As the music plays on, we’re keeping that same positive energy in the classroom, maintaining the momentum for academic success.

Here in the North Rockland Central School District, we’re always looking for new ways to encourage our talented students to pursue their passions. For the first time ever, on Friday, December 12 at 7 p.m., the North Rockland High School and Fieldstone Middle School Drama Societies will co-produce a Drama Showcase at FMS. The one-night only event will feature performances from beloved musicals, including Wicked, Hamilton and The Greatest Showman! Tickets can be purchased at the door and are donation-based. Don't miss this opportunity to support our young performers!

This month, NRHS seniors are participating in Instant Decision Days through our College and Career Center. Representatives from Iona University and Ramapo College met with students this week to review applications and offer on-the-spot admissions decisions.

Today, we celebrated Signing Day for our fall athletes who have committed to continuing their athletic careers at the collegiate level. We are incredibly proud of their hard work, dedication and achievements both on and off the field. Congratulations to our seniors who have committed to their next steps after graduation!

A huge congratulations to our Boys Varsity Cross Country team on capturing the NYSPHSAA Class A championship a few weeks ago, the first in North Rockland program history and a long-held dream for our senior runners. The team went on to earn the 2025 New York State Federation/Nike Cross Regional title and will compete at the Nike Cross Nationals in Portland, Oregon, tomorrow. Cheer on our Red Raiders on the West Coast via a live broadcast starting at 12 p.m. ET.

We are also incredibly proud of NRHS seniors Nadia H. (Wind Ensemble, Trombone), Aylinn H. (Mixed Choir, Alto 1) and Katrina V. (Alternate, Piccolo), who were selected to perform at the 2025 NYSSMA All-State Conference this weekend in Rochester, a prestigious honor that recognizes their exceptional musical talent and dedication. Congratulations, Nadia, Aylinn and Katrina!

As a reminder, the December Board of Education meeting was rescheduled to Tuesday, December 9 at 7 p.m. at NRHS.

Hitting the right note!

Second graders at SPES warmed up with singing and rhythmic exercises to “Mary Had a Little Lamb,” practiced hand and finger exercises and then paired up to read notes and play on the piano, taking turns as pointer and player.

College and Career Center College and Career Center

Instant Decision Week kicked off with a visit from Iona University. Our students had the opportunity to sit down with Admissions Counselor Emma McCabe and receive on-the-spot admissions decisions! Next week, the College & Career Center will continue IDD Week with Dominican University on Tuesday, December 9 and Mercy University on Thursday, December 11. We’re also rescheduling our visit with St. Thomas Aquinas College, which was postponed due to this week’s snow day.

A reminder that the College & Career Center will offer the first of two FAFSA Family Workshops on Wednesday, December 10 from 5–8 p.m. This session is designed to guide students and families through the financial aid process and ensure they feel confident and supported. The workshop flyer is linked here for anyone interested. For questions, please feel free to contact Mr. Matt Driscoll, College & Career Counselor, at mdriscoll@northrockland.org or 845-942-3313.
