Principal Corner

We made it! One more week before Spring Break. I believe we can all feel spring in the air. Teachers are working hard to keep students engaged and focused on the learning. Please remind your child to keep working hard this last week before they get a 9-day break from school.

The Book Fair is coming after Spring Break! Check out how to create an e-wallet so your child can purchase books. We will have a parent night so you can shop with your child. Stay tuned for more details.

New Zones

As Springdale continues to grow, we are excited to expand our school family with the addition of the new Jim D. Rollins Elementary School of Innovation. The Springdale School District prides itself on providing the highest quality, personalized education to all our students, no matter where they attend school. The Springdale School District is adjusting attendance zones for the 2021-2022 school year in preparation for the opening of the new elementary school in the fall. These new zones will mean new exciting changes for some of our families. Please see the link for the new zones. If you are zoned to attend Rollins Elementary School of Innovation, watch for information regarding upcoming parent meetings.

Food Drive

Wow! Thank you for helping provide nutritional support to 100 Springdale students' families! We will pack up all of the items and deliver them next week for the children to consume over Spring Break. Currently, we have all of the items we need, except jelly. Would you please consider grabbing a plastic container of jelly while you're at the store this weekend? We need 50 more jellies and that is it! What a blessing your donations will be to these kiddos. Thank you for your generosity and kindness! You are making a difference!

***A special shout out to Boy Scout Troop 777 sponsored by St. Raphael in Springdale! Your generosity was humbling. Thank you for giving so lovingly!***

Notes from the Counselor- MOTIVATION

Counseling Lesson Theme- Career Awareness

Elementary school is not too early to start teaching your child about career awareness. Making career decisions is a lifelong process about exploring and experiencing the world of work. It is important for your child to become aware of how his or her education is connected to a successful future.

While in Elementary school, you can help your child:

  • Discover the variety of jobs available to him or her

  • Connect what he/she is learning in school to real-world situations

  • Imagine him/herself in an occupation

  • Develop work-readiness skills such as working and playing with others, making decisions, solving problems, and being a leader!

  • Discuss different skills and interests your child has and relate them to certain jobs. For example, a reporter needs writing skills to create newspaper articles or blogs.

By talking with your child about the link between school and careers, you will help your child understand that school is important and that school success can open doors to his or her career. This career resource goes more in-depth with the tips listed above.
