Message from Mr. Hunter
Dear Discovery Families,
As we prepare to embark on week twelve of our 25-26 School year journey together, I am hoping you are all in good health and spirits. After twelve weeks at Discovery, I can honestly say that I am glad to be apart of the family. So let's continue working together; remembering our children are the ones most impacted by our performance. Let's continue learning and growing; knowing there is always room for improvement. And most importantly, let's stay encouraged, because it's not easy being parents and teachers today. With that, I wish you all a great week.

Salute to Our Vets🫡
Mr. Fields
From 1994–2000, Mr. Fields served with the 365th Engineer Battalion (Reading, PA) as a 62E Heavy Construction Equipment Operator and 12B Combat Engineer—building roads and fortifications, breaching and emplacing obstacles, and detecting/disposing of land mines. His service took him across the U.S., as well as to Panama and South Korea. Mr. Fields was also connected to a division of Airborne Rangers, and completed 6 airplane jumps out of C130.
From 2000–2002, he answered a second calling as a 42R trumpeter with the 307th Army Band (Norristown, PA), performing everything from ceremonial and marching literature to classical and jazz—solo to full concert band. Within his first six months in the band, Mr. Fields was promoted to Sergeant. Notable appearances include performances for General Colin Powell and for President Bill Clinton—once in 1995 while at Kutztown University and again in 2000 during a veterans’ parade in Washington, D.C.
Beyond the stage, Fred has honored the fallen by sounding Taps and folding the United States flag for grieving families—standing beside them in their hardest moments to celebrate a veteran’s life with precision, respect, and heart.

Ms. Bowers (2nd Grade Teacher)
From 1997 to 2005, Ms. Bowers served in the United States Army Reserve as a 71L—Administrative Specialist. In that role, she became the quiet engine behind the mission: preparing orders, maintaining personnel files, tracking readiness, coordinating schedules, and ensuring every detail matched the standard. The 71L’s craft is precision and people—guarding records, moving information at the speed of operations, and solving problems before they ever reach the front line.
Serving through an era that spanned both routine stateside duty and the post-9/11 realignment, Ms. Bowers learned to balance civilian life with the call to uniform—showing up when it counted, adapting without complaint, and leading with steadiness. She brought forward the habits that the Army prizes: discretion, accountability, teamwork, and grace under pressure. Today, those same qualities travel with her into the civilian world—her work is organized, her word is dependable, and her presence lifts the teams she serves.
Ms. Bowers time in uniform is more than a chapter; it’s a compass. It points to service above self, to dignity in the smallest tasks, and to a professionalism rooted in respect for others. She carries her experience with grace and divinity, reminding us that the heart of military service is not only what you do—it’s how you do it, and who you choose to be for the people counting on you.
