Bridge the Dream Scholarship

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) and The Sallie Mae Fund are proud to offer financial assistance to forty high school seniors who plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college. Scholars who are selected will receive a scholarship up to $10,000 for the 2025-2026 academic school year.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Be currently enrolled as a high school senior for the 2024-2025 academic year
• Plan to enroll full-time as a first-time, incoming freshman during the 2025-2026 academic year
• Plan to be enrolled at an accredited post-secondary institution or continuous education program opens in a new window during the 2025-2026 academic year:
• Two-year Schools
• Four-year Schools
• Vocational/Technical certificate/certification program
• Current cumulative grade point average of 2.75 or higher
• Must be Pell-Grant eligible
• Be a U.S. Citizen or legal permanent resident with a valid permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551
• Must be able to demonstrate leadership abilities
• Must be able to demonstrate good moral character in all aspects of your life, including personal, professional, educational, in your community, and online presence

Scholarship Allocation:

The eligible total amount will be funded in two disbursements for the 2025-2026 academic year, based on the conditions outlined in the scholar’s contract.

We had an exciting day with the Student Leadership Program. Sophomores and Seniors got a nice surprise from Mayor Van Johnson while learning about communication, teamwork, and interview skills. The Juniors got to hear from our City Manager Mr. Joseph Melder and the President of the Chamber of Commerce Mr. Bert Brantley about the any opportunities for public service in our city and how our public workers keep this city running. We also got to go on a fun scavenger hunt all over downtown.

Re: Scholarship Applications

The scholarships offered by The Savannah Community Foundation are now

available online via the Foundation's website at www.savfoundation.org/scholarships.

Once anyone clicks on a scholarship in the online portal, more details are provided in the

application for that scholarship.

All scholarship applications must be submitted by April 4, 2025.

The Home Builders Association of Greater Savannah is reaching out to our local high schools and colleges to ask for your help in sharing with current high school seniors and college undergraduates about our 2025 Founders Scholarship. The Founders Scholarship Fund is a non-profit organization that is part of our local HBA. We distribute multiple scholarships annually to students who are pursuing a degree directly related to the building industry. A few examples of qualifying fields of study are architecture, building construction, building design, construction management, engineering, welding, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems technology.

I have attached two applications for our scholarship. 1) for current high school seniors who plan to attend college in the fall of 2025 and 2) for current college students who are in a related field of study.

The application due date is Friday, April 11, 2025. Please read the requirements thoroughly and make sure all required documents accompany the application when submitted. Please note that applications will not be accepted if they are not 100% complete. Once received, the Founders Scholarship Committee will meet and review all applications. The scholarships will be awarded on merit, financial need, and field of study. Students will be notified directly if a scholarship is awarded.

Georgia Student Finance Commission is partnering with University System of Georgia, Technical College System of Georgia and private universities across the state to provide Georgia high school seniors application fee waivers during the month of March.

Compensatory Programs is seeking dedicated students to help assemble 400 hygiene kits. This is a wonderful opportunity to earn volunteer hours while giving back to the community.

Attention Seniors: Please remember per SCCPSS board policy that 20 hours of community service is a requirement for graduation. All community service documentation must be turned in to your assigned school counselor by Monday, April 7, 2025. Seniors who do not complete this requirement will not be eligible for graduation, including participating in the graduation ceremony. Community Service documentation logs can be picked up in the school counseling center.

In 2024-2025, the Georgia School Climate Surveys (GSCS) for students, teachers, staff, and families will replace the Georgia Student Health Survey (GSHS), the Georgia Parent School Climate Survey (GPSCS), and the Georgia School Personnel Survey (GSPS). This new suite of surveys, aligned with Georgia’s Systems of Continuous Improvement, will provide more actionable data for district and school leaders, reduce the number of questions for students, and eliminate most other GaDOE survey requirements.

Our track team had a strong showing at the Savannah Country Day meet last week! The girls placed 6th overall, and the boys earned an impressive 2nd place finish. Please join me in congratulating our student-athletes on their hard work and determination.
